Role Objective.

The Automation & Integration Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining API integrations and reporting/BI infrastructure that expand the firm’s technical capabilities. This is a builder role - you create what doesn’t exist yet, working closely with the firm’s internal and external technology operations function to ensure seamless handoff for ongoing maintenance and operation. The ideal candidate brings proven engineering depth in API integrations and data/BI work, translates operational needs into scalable technical solutions, and is comfortable making proactive recommendations as well as executing on defined requirements.

This role prioritizes two things above all else: building reliable API integrations between our platforms and turning raw data into dashboards and KPIs leadership can act on. No-code automation breadth and internal tool-building are valued and will grow over time, but they are not the bar for hire.

Responsibilities/Duties.

• Build and manage API integrations and data syncing between platforms (HubSpot, Filevine, Monday.com, Microsoft 365, and others), ensuring accuracy, reliability, and scalability.

• Design and build reporting dashboards and BI infrastructure for Legal Operations, Finance, Sales, and HR teams, with ongoing operation transitioned to internal technology operations upon completion.

• Translate raw platform data into actionable KPIs and visualizations, proactively recommending new dashboards based on what the data supports — not just responding to requests.

• Identify manual and repetitive workflows across departments and build automations — using no-code/low-code tools (Zapier, Make, Power Automate) where they’re the right fit, and custom code where they’re not — to eliminate them.

• Monitor existing automations and integrations, troubleshoot failures, and maintain reliability over time.

• Produce clear documentation for all builds, automations, and integrations so internal technology operations can maintain and support them post-launch.

• Collaborate with internal technology operations on automation design and knowledge transfer, ensuring continuity and operational readiness for all new builds.

• Assess operational workflows to identify inefficiencies and proactively recommend technology solutions.

• Stay current on relevant automation, integration, and AI tools, and bring recommendations to leadership.

Requirements.

• 3–5 years of hands-on experience building and maintaining API integrations between business platforms (REST APIs, webhooks, OAuth, JSON) — able to debug and extend an integration, not just configure a template.

• Working SQL skills and experience building reporting dashboards/BI visualizations from raw data (e.g., Power BI, Looker, Tableau, or native platform reporting).

• Working proficiency in Python or JavaScript for custom scripting and troubleshooting.

• Experience with at least one no-code/low-code automation platform (Zapier, Make/Integromat, Workato, or Power Automate).

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English — able to clearly document technical builds and communicate with non-technical stakeholders.

• Ability to work independently, manage multiple concurrent projects, and proactively communicate progress and blockers.

• Reliable high-speed internet and a professional remote work setup.

• Able to provide work samples or a portfolio of integrations/dashboards built (code samples, case studies, or a short-paid test project).

Preferred.

• Hands-on experience with HubSpot, Filevine, and/or Monday.com, or comparable CRM, project management, or case management platforms.

• Experience building internal tools or lightweight applications (Python, JavaScript, or similar).

• Experience in a legal services, professional services, or compliance-driven environment.

• Prior experience supporting a US-based firm or organization remotely.

• Familiarity with AI productivity tools and their integration into business workflows, including Claude or similar LLM platforms.
