Audit & Accounts Senior

About the Role

Streets Accountants is looking for a qualified and experienced Audit & Accounts Senior to join our UK team.

This is a key senior-level role for someone with strong external audit experience, ideally combined with accounts preparation and corporation tax experience. You will manage audit assignments from planning through to completion, work directly with clients and contribute across audit, accounts and tax.

Accounts and corporation tax experience is highly desirable, but training can be provided for the right candidate. Strong external audit experience is the core requirement.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, manage and complete external audit assignments from planning through to completion.

• Prepare and review audit working papers, financial statements and supporting schedules.

• Identify audit risks and perform appropriate audit procedures.

• Liaise directly with clients to obtain information, resolve queries and ensure assignments remain on track.

• Prepare and/or review year-end accounts for limited companies, partnerships and sole traders.

• Assist with corporation tax computations and returns.

• Ensure work complies with relevant UK accounting, auditing and tax requirements.

• Manage multiple assignments and deadlines effectively.

• Review work and provide guidance to junior team members where required.

• Work collaboratively with UK-based audit, accounts and tax teams.

• Contribute to audit planning and the smooth delivery of assignments during busy periods.

Essential Requirements

• Professionally qualified accountant (e.g. CA(SA), ACCA, ACA or equivalent) with strong external audit experience.

• Previous experience operating at Senior level, with the ability to take ownership of assignments.

• Strong understanding of audit planning, testing and completion.

• Experience preparing and/or reviewing financial statements.

• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.

• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.

• Strong client-facing and relationship-management skills.

Desirable Experience

• UK accounting practice or UK client experience.

• Knowledge of UK accounting and auditing standards.

• Year-end accounts preparation.

• Corporation tax computations and returns.

• Experience working with SME and owner-managed business clients.

• Experience across audit, accounts and tax within practice.

• Experience reviewing or mentoring junior staff.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a qualified Audit Senior with strong external audit experience who can take ownership of assignments and make an immediate contribution to the team.

Experience across accounts preparation and corporation tax would be highly advantageous.

The successful candidate will be technically strong, organised and commercially aware, with the confidence to manage their own workload, meet deadlines and build effective relationships with clients and colleagues.
