Project Scope
We are seeking an Athena Ambulatory Optimization Analyst to support a specialty physicians group in assessing, reconfiguring, and optimizing their athenaOne EHR environment. This role will conduct a comprehensive review of the current system build, identify gaps and underutilized functionality, and drive configuration improvements that enhance clinical and operational performance across the ambulatory setting.
Position Summary
The Athena Ambulatory Optimization Analyst will serve as a hands-on athenaOne subject matter expert responsible for evaluating how the platform has been built and configured, identifying areas of opportunity, and executing targeted optimizations across the full athenaOne environment. This individual will work closely with physician group leadership and operational stakeholders to understand current workflows, surface gaps, and deliver a more effective and fully utilized athenaOne build. The ideal candidate is a practical, experienced athenaOne analyst who can assess what exists, know what good looks like, and get to work.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct a thorough assessment of the current athenaOne build across the specialty physicians group environment.
- Identify underutilized, misconfigured, or missing functionality across the full athenaOne platform.
- Develop and execute a prioritized optimization and reconfiguration plan aligned to clinical and operational goals.
- Reconfigure and rebuild athenaOne components as needed to improve workflow efficiency and system performance.
- Collaborate with physician group leadership and operational staff to understand specialty-specific workflow needs.
- Document current-state findings, configuration decisions, and optimization recommendations.
- Ensure the athenaOne environment is properly configured to support specialty ambulatory workflows.
- Provide knowledge transfer and guidance to internal staff throughout the engagement.
Qualifications
- Hands-on athenaOne configuration and optimization experience required.
- Strong understanding of ambulatory workflows within a specialty physician group setting.
- Proven ability to assess an existing EHR build, identify gaps, and execute targeted improvements.
- Experience working independently with minimal oversight in a remote environment.
- Strong communication skills with both clinical and operational stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting specialty physician groups across multiple specialties.
- Background performing athenaOne assessments or optimization engagements.
- Familiarity with athenaOne integration capabilities and third-party tools.
- Experience working in environments where athenaOne and an inpatient EHR operate in parallel.
- Prior consulting or contract experience in a client-facing capacity.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experienced athenaOne analyst who can assess, diagnose, and optimize without needing to be told where to look.
- Practical and hands-on — someone who can get into the system, identify what's working and what isn't, and fix it.
- Strong communicator who can translate findings into clear recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.
- Self-starter who thrives in an independent, remote work environment.
- Brings credibility, technical depth, and a get-it-done approach to every engagement.
