Job Purpose

  • The  Proxy Product Owner (PPO) role is primarily to lead the strategization, design, solutioning, development and implementation/execution of digital solutions & journeys

  • To ensure the solutions that are built are effective enough to drive the business to achieve digital (and other non digital) KPIs, KPAs, MBOs, balance sheet, P&L and CX/regulatory objectives

  • Developing a detailed understanding of business & CX needs, gaps, and the ability to identify & prioritize impactful items

  • Propose (and execute) creative & innovative journeys/solutions that maximize business impact

  • To be able to prioritize - & deliver in small chunks in an Agile way

  • Acts as a bridge between business stakeholders and development teams, the PPO ensures seamless execution of digital initiatives.

  • Digital Product Expert/ Proxy Product Owner/PPO has end-to-end responsibility for the development, management, harmonization and phasing out of commercial products, services, channel formulas and processes within one or more segments and is familiar with the relationship between these aspects, with a view to achieving an optimum customer experience. 

  • The PPO works in a squad within Mashreq’s Digital Studio, works together with other PPOs experts to achieve the squad's mission and the overall objectives of the business. Has expertise in the areas of marketing, product management, channel and process optimization. The PPO should be able to fulfil the role of Product Owner within a squad.

  • Key Result Areas

This would include but not limited to:

  • Using data/MIS, staff interviews, customer feedback/research and overall business sense to identify most impactful changes

  • Finalize quarterly roadmaps after engaging all stakeholders and diligently doing cost/benefit analysis

  • Continuously brainstorm and propose innovative/new/unique solutions to business challenges – do not replicate paper processes to the digital world

  • Create digital solutions basis the principle of “digital excellence”, while retaining the MVP approach the Agile delivery methodology 

  • Digital deliveries of Business and Customer needs by managing Front End, Back End Engineers, Designer, QA deliverables on a day to day basis.

  • Constantly evaluate and prioritize the squad backlog to streamline the execution of program priorities while maintaining the conceptual and technical integrity of the features or components for the team

  • Collaborationwith IT, Compliance, Operations, CX Team and all relevant stakeholders to deliver optimal customer journeys

  • Collaboration with Chapter leads and system architecture teams to align for synergies and best practices 
  • Ensure there is no Tech Debt and all journeys are covered in DR
  • Deal with the most urgent incidents and improvement needs and work with PO to raise ORE’s where required
  • Use his/her technical expertise and experience to contribute to all sprint events (plannings, refinements, retrospectives, demos)
  • Directs implementation of the PO’s strategy, tracks squad progress
  • Ensures completion of backlog items during sprints. 
  • Knowledgeable on tech opportunities to support business goals. And is able to translate business solutions into working software by collaborating with IT engineers.

  • Take ownership of key decisions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and stakeholder expectations while effectively managing resources.

  • Maintain accountability for the overall success of QPM commitments

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of banking experience, other related project work experience, or demonstration of high level of understanding of the banking industry 

  • Minimum 2 years of experience gathering requirements and translating into user requirements, data engineering, data science, or software engineering experience

  • At least 1 year of experience within customer journey would be preferred 

  • Background in engineering, technology, or UX preferred

  • Experience in Agile methodologies preferred

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with a high degree of comfort in speaking with senior leaders

  • Must be a strong collaborator, team player, and individual contributor

  • Demonstrated ability to think both strategically and tactically

  • Brings a high-energy and passionate outlook to the job and can influence those around them

  • Able to build a sense of trust and rapport that creates a comfortable & effective workplace

  • Passion for innovation and “can do” attitude
