AS400 with WMS for Development

Zensar Technologies Limited is seeking an experienced Technical Lead to drive AS400 development initiatives for a major retail client using Warehouse Management System (WMS) solutions. The role involves designing, coding, and delivering robust back‑end functionality, collaborating with cross‑functional teams, and ensuring high‑quality, scalable solutions that meet business objectives.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of AS400 applications integrated with WMS modules.
• Coordinate with business analysts and retail stakeholders to gather and refine requirements.
• Mentor and guide a team of developers, ensuring best coding practices and standards.
• Perform code reviews, unit testing, and support integration testing activities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to AS400/WMS environments.
• Develop technical documentation, including design specs and user guides.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and DBA teams for performance tuning and database optimization.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and adopt emerging technologies where appropriate.
• Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and retail industry standards.
• Report progress, risks, and mitigation plans to senior management.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional experience in AS400 (IBM iSeries) development.
• Strong background in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) for retail environments.
• Proficiency in RPG, COBOL, CL, and SQL on IBM i platforms.
• Demonstrated experience leading technical teams and managing full software lifecycles.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to debug complex system issues.
• Knowledge of retail operations, inventory management, and order fulfillment processes.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and CI/CD pipelines.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Relevant certifications (e.g., IBM Certified Application Developer – iSeries) are a plus.
