Help Bring the World to Ohio

Pan Atlantic Foundation is looking for a community-minded Area Representative to help make international student exchange possible throughout Northeast and North-Central Ohio.

This opportunity is centered around Cleveland, with outreach and placement opportunities extending throughout surrounding communities, including Toledo, Lima, Akron.

As an Area Representative, you'll connect international high school students with welcoming American families, build relationships with local schools, and provide support throughout the student's exchange experience.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys meeting people, being involved in the community, working independently, and making a difference in the life of a young person.

You don't have to work a traditional 9-to-5 schedule to do meaningful work.

What You'll Do

Area Representatives serve as the local connection between students, host families, schools, and Pan Atlantic Foundation.

Recruit & Support Host Families

  • Introduce local families to the opportunity to host an international exchange student.
  • Talk with prospective families about the exchange experience and program expectations.
  • Assist with the host family application and approval process.
  • Conduct required host family interviews and follow-up.
  • Build positive, ongoing relationships with participating families.
  • Help families feel prepared and supported throughout the exchange.

Build School Relationships

One of the most important parts of this position is developing relationships with local high schools.

You may:

  • Connect with school administrators, counselors, coaches, and other school personnel.
  • Introduce international exchange opportunities to schools.
  • Identify schools that may be interested in welcoming an exchange student.
  • Help facilitate the school approval and enrollment process.
  • Develop long-term relationships with schools throughout your territory.
  • Identify opportunities for students to become involved in school activities, athletics, clubs, and events.

Support International Students

You'll become a familiar local resource for students experiencing life in a new country.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Welcoming students to their community.
  • Maintaining regular communication with students and host families.
  • Completing required student supervision visits and check-ins.
  • Helping students become involved in their school and community.
  • Listening to questions or concerns and helping identify solutions.
  • Communicating with Pan Atlantic Foundation staff when additional support is needed.
  • Helping create a positive and memorable exchange experience.

Become Part of the Community

Area Representatives are encouraged to become familiar with the communities they serve and identify opportunities for students to experience local life.

You might connect students with:

  • Community festivals and events
  • School activities and sporting events
  • Volunteer opportunities
  • Youth organizations
  • Libraries and community programs
  • Local attractions
  • Cultural activities
  • Civic organizations
  • Other experiences that help students feel connected to their community

Your Ohio Territory

This position is designed to help expand Pan Atlantic Foundation's presence throughout Northern Ohio.

Cleveland
A major metropolitan hub with extensive school districts, diverse communities, cultural attractions, professional sports, and opportunities for international students to experience life in a large Ohio city.

A growing community with numerous surrounding school districts and easy access to outdoor recreation, arts, sports, and regional attractions.

Toledo
A strong regional hub serving communities throughout northwest Ohio, with numerous high schools and opportunities for exchange students to become involved in school and community life.

Lima
A strategic central-western Ohio community surrounded by smaller towns and school districts that can provide additional opportunities for international student placements.

Surrounding Communities

The territory may extend into smaller cities, towns, suburbs, and rural communities surrounding these hubs.

You do not have to live directly in Cleveland, Toledo, Lima, or Akron to be considered.

Local community knowledge is valuable, but an established network is not required.

The goal is to develop a strong network of host families and high schools throughout the region, rather than focusing exclusively on the largest cities.
