We are seeking a highly skilled and self-sufficient Senior DevOps / Platform Engineer to join our team. In this remote role, you will be responsible for maintaining and strengthening a Kubernetes-based hosting platform that powers client websites and applications for a digital agency. You'll play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, security, automation, and scalability of the platform while collaborating with a small engineering team to deliver high-quality infrastructure and operational excellence.

Salary: AUD 2,700 – AUD 3,500 per month (final offer depends on qualifications and experience)

Responsibilities:
- Maintain and support a Kubernetes-based hosting platform and AWS infrastructure for Drupal and Laravel applications
- Migrate, configure, and optimize client applications into Kubernetes environments
- Monitor platform health and respond to outages, incidents, and security events with a calm and methodical approach
- Execute deployments and go-live activities while maintaining and improving CI/CD pipelines
- Manage identity and access across Google Workspace, Atlassian, hosting platforms, and version control systems
- Support employee onboarding and offboarding, including device management and access provisioning
- Contribute to ISO 27001 and SOC 2 compliance by maintaining security controls, documentation, and audit readiness
- Build, maintain, and improve monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to proactively identify issues
- Manage DNS, domain records, and SSL/TLS certificate lifecycles for client and internal environments
- Perform backup validation, disaster recovery testing, and recovery drills to ensure business continuity
- Assist in managing cloud infrastructure costs, SaaS subscriptions, vendor relationships, and renewals
- Drive automation initiatives by replacing manual operational tasks with scripted workflows and leveraging AI where appropriate
- Collaborate with developers and platform engineers to continuously improve infrastructure reliability, security, and deployment processes
- Stay up to date with DevOps best practices, cloud technologies, automation tools, and emerging industry trends
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Senior DevOps Engineer, Platform Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), or similar role
- Strong Linux systems administration skills with experience in scripting and automation using Bash, Python, or similar languages
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, containerized workloads, Docker, and AWS cloud infrastructure
- Experience migrating and configuring applications across Kubernetes environments
- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation (Bitbucket Pipelines or similar)
- Experience with workflow automation platforms such as n8n or equivalent automation tools
- Excellent troubleshooting and incident response skills in production environments
- Solid understanding of infrastructure security, identity and access management, and least-privilege principles
- Exposure to compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001 and/or SOC 2
- Experience working within governed and access-controlled environments
- Ability to work independently and confidently manage complex infrastructure with minimal supervision
- Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills
- Demonstrated experience using automation and AI to improve DevOps workflows and operational efficiency
- Highly Regarded:
- Personal projects, home labs, or side projects demonstrating passion for automation and infrastructure
- Practical use of AI tools in DevOps or platform engineering workflows
- Experience hosting Drupal and/or Laravel applications
- Experience with managed Kubernetes platforms
- Familiarity with OpsGenie, JAMF, Atlassian Administration, and Google Workspace Administration
- Experience managing DNS, SSL/TLS certificates, and domain lifecycle processes
- Proven track record of automating repetitive operational tasks
- Experience contributing to ISO 27001 or SOC 2 audits and certification processes
