About the role

You will work directly with customers across a broad range of tax and compliance work. No two files are the same, so we need someone who is adaptable, detail oriented and comfortable navigating multiple systems and platforms simultaneously.

What you'll do

• Review of Tyro Accounting bookkeeping for customers that want an accountant review

• Review, preparation and lodgement of BAS (Business Activity Statements) via the product and for our VIP customers

• Preparation of income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, companies and trusts

• Preparation of Financial Statements as required

• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and other regulations

• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes & efficiencies

• Take customer support calls regarding accounting questions or a run through of their lodgements

• Other ad-hoc support to the Manger of Accounting and Tax

What you'll bring

• Relevant tertiary and professional qualifications (IPA, Tax Agent, BAS Agent or equivalent)

• Proven experience in public practice as an Accountant or Tax Agent (or working towards) or similar role for 3+ years

• A solid understanding of Australian Accounting Standards

• A love of a big tech stack. We work out of a lot of different systems you will need to be able to bounce in and out of them

• A love of variety and experience over many industries. No one customer is the same.

• Desire to work collaboratively with technology and data teams when it comes to accounting queries.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to solve problems for our customers

• Excellent time management/planning skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail

• Proactive and eager to learn and adapt to new challenges

We are looking to hire a full time accountant on a 12 month fixed term contract to support the Accounting & Tax team. This role replaces an existing part time position and expands the scope significantly to meet growing demand.
