We are looking for a UI/Visual Designer for one of our clients: a multidisciplinary engineering company. This is a design-first role on an existing product.
About the assignment
The client has two working React applications (web and mobile) that are functionally solid but visually underdeveloped. They're looking for a visual redesign that reads as credible and professional to their industrial and engineering customers — not a consumer-style refresh. Implementation is handled by their own developer; your job is the design.
What you'll do
Redesign the visual layer of the existing web and mobile apps: layout, visual hierarchy, color, typography, and iconography
Produce clean, implementable design files (Figma or similar) that the client's developer can build from directly
Bring a point of view suited to a technical, industrial audience rather than a consumer brand look
Must have
A strong UI/visual design portfolio, with B2B, industrial, or technical-product work represented
Proven ability to design within and improve an existing product rather than starting from a blank slate
A clear, developer-ready handoff practice
Nice to have
Some React familiarity — useful for handoff conversations.
ATTENTION UPON DROPPING YOUR APPLICATION:
Please, immediately send an email to virtuous@tunga.io with subject 'UI/Visual Designer – Your Name' sharing your portfolio and concrete examples of UI/visual design work you've done on shipped products.
We're specifically interested in:
A direct link to your portfolio (Behance, Dribbble, Figma, personal site, or PDF) — this is required, applications without a portfolio won't be reviewed
B2B, industrial, or technical-product interfaces you've designed — the audience, and how that shaped your visual choices
A redesign of an existing product — what you inherited, what you changed, and why
How you structure design files for developer handoff — components, specs, naming, what a developer actually receives from you
Web and mobile work on the same product — how you kept the two consistent
Any experience working alongside React developers during implementation
Please point us to shipped work, not tutorials, side experiments, or course projects.
A short paragraph per example is enough: what you designed, your specific role, the context it operated in, and one or two concrete decisions you made. Links to live products, case studies, or write-ups are welcome where you can share them.
