We’re looking for a Motion Designer who can bring complex ideas to life in both 2D and 3D. Maybe that’s you.
As a Motion Designer, you’ll collaborate with our Creative Director, Design Leads, and broader team to create motion that clarifies complex ideas and elevates our clients’ brands.
Concepting: You’ll help translate scientific and technical concepts into clear, compelling visual narratives. You’ll work with our Design Leads to develop storyboards, style frames, and motion studies that align with each project’s creative direction.
2D Motion: You’ll animate brand systems, typography, diagrams, illustrations, interfaces, and other graphic elements for websites, presentations, and explainer videos.
3D Motion: You’ll model, animate, light, and render 3D assets like molecules, proteins, hardware, and abstract graphics.
Interactive Motion: You’ll work with designers and developers to create motion for the web, preparing optimized assets and defining timing, easing, transitions, and responsive behavior.
Production: You’ll manage projects from initial exploration through final delivery, maintaining a high bar for craft, consistency, and technical execution. You’ll prepare and optimize assets for developers and production partners. Bonus points for
Talented: You have a strong motion portfolio that demonstrates excellent design instincts, storytelling, and execution across 2D and 3D.
Technical: You have experience collaborating directly with designers and developers to bring motion systems into production. You’re comfortable across multiple tools and workflows and know when each approach is most effective.
Reliable: You deliver consistently, communicate proactively, stay organized, and manage multiple projects effectively.
Curious: You enjoy learning how unfamiliar technologies work and finding visual ways to make them understandable and engaging.
Scrappy: You thrive in a fast-paced agency environment and are comfortable adapting your process to different projects, timelines, and clients.
Experience with GSAP, WebGL, Three.js, Lottie, Rive, or other web animation workflows.
Experience creating molecular, cellular, medical, or scientific visualizations.
Experience with particle systems, procedural animation, simulations, or node-based workflows.
Familiarity with scientific data, CAD files, microscopy imagery, or technical source material.
Experience collaborating directly with developers to bring motion systems into production.
Time: This role will begin as a part-time contract of approximately 10–20 hours per week.
Location: We are remote-first. Occasional meetings typically take place between 12–5 p.m. ET.
Compensation: We offer fixed project fees for clearly defined engagements and hourly rates for less-defined or one-off motion work.
