Position Summary
Under the general supervision of and reporting to the Associate Director, the Veteran Benefit Office Coordinator is primarily responsible for front line customer service and general support of the department. The coordinator provides exceptional customer service by assisting students with general information about policies and procedures related to VA educational benefits such as GI Bill and Veterans Readiness and Employment (VR&E) as well as support staff as needed
Key Responsibilities
Advise students about VA educational benefits and the certification process to ensure receipt of their benefits in a timely fashion. Interaction with students is primarily via phone, email, and individual appointments.
Help students submit forms as needed, confirm receipt, set expectations and timelines.
Assist with the organization, record keeping and tracking of benefit purchase orders (PO).
Create, update and maintain various forms, reference materials and documents.
In collaboration with other team members, create and coordinate FAQs for students.
Assist with special projects under the guidance of the department directors.
Provide regular scheduled data reports on a timely basis.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Director or Director.
Support staff as needed.
Qualifications
Communication: Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills to guide non-traditional students and manage confidential data securely.
Service Excellence: Dedicated to delivering high-quality, responsive customer service to the university community.
Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with VA educational assistance programs is helpful but not required. Direct, hands-on experience using VA-ONCE or the modern VA Enrollment Manager system is preferred. Familiarity with Microsoft office suite.
Experience and Education: Bachelor’s degree, minimum of 2–3 years of experience in higher education, preferably within a Registrar's Office, Financial Aid, or Veterans Affairs department or a combination of education and related experience.
