We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer(MongoDB) to support a large-scale migration from Percona Server for MongoDB to MongoDB Atlas. The role combines hands-on database engineering, migration execution, automation, performance tuning, and production cutover support. 

You will work closely with client architects, infrastructure teams, security teams, and application owners to plan and execute migrations across multiple MongoDB environments while ensuring data integrity, performance, availability, and operational readiness. 

The successful candidate will have strong MongoDB administration experience, a solid understanding of distributed database architectures, and experience delivering enterprise database migration projects. 

Responsibilities:

• Support the migration of Percona Server for MongoDB environments to MongoDB Atlas. 
• Assess existing MongoDB deployments including replica sets, sharded clusters, backup strategies, and operational processes. 
• Configure, execute, and monitor MongoDB Atlas Live Migration activities where applicable. 
• Perform migration readiness assessments and identify risks, dependencies, and technical constraints. 
• Validate data consistency, index integrity, and application connectivity before and after migration. 
• Support production cutovers and rollback planning activities. 
• Troubleshoot migration, replication, network, and performance-related issues. 
• Collaborate with client architects to define migration waves, migration runbooks, and validation procedures. 
• Develop automation scripts and tooling to support migration activities and environment provisioning. 
• Assist with Atlas cluster sizing, performance tuning, and operational optimization. 
• Configure and support MongoDB security including authentication, authorization, encryption, and network access controls. 
• Document migration procedures, technical decisions, and operational runbooks. 
• Work closely with application teams to support connection string updates, testing, and deployment activities. 
• Support post-migration stabilization and knowledge transfer activities. 

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience delivering enterprise database solutions, with at least 3+ years administering MongoDB or Percona Server for MongoDB in production environments. 

• Proven experience supporting large-scale database migration initiatives and working with distributed database platforms and high-availability architectures. 

• Strong hands-on experience with MongoDB administration, including Replica Sets, Sharding, Replication, Backup & Recovery, Performance Tuning, Index Optimization, Capacity Planning, Security Configuration, and Disaster Recovery. 

• Practical experience with MongoDB Atlas, including Atlas Live Migration, cluster sizing, monitoring and alerting, security controls, and networking configuration. 

• Strong Linux administration skills and a solid understanding of networking concepts including DNS, firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, and private connectivity. 

• Experience working with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure and/or AWS. 

• Strong scripting and automation skills using Python and Bash/Shell scripting. 

• Experience with Git, CI/CD practices, and infrastructure automation. 

• Comfortable working directly with client stakeholders, architects, infrastructure teams, and application teams throughout migration and cutover activities. 

• Experience with Percona Server for MongoDB, MongoDB Atlas migrations, Kubernetes, or Terraform would be considered an advantage. 

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have) 

• Percona Server for MongoDB experience. 
• Experience with MongoDB Atlas migrations. 
• Kubernetes experience. 
• Experience with Terraform or Infrastructure as Code. 
• Azure networking and security experience.
