Welty Energy & Infrastructure (WE&I) is looking for an Portfolio Manager to join our growing Special Projects (Distribution) team!

WE&I, an affiliate of Welty Enterprises, is a professional services company specializing in program and project management, transmission line engineering, distribution engineering, substation engineering, and construction oversight on transmission, substation, and distribution projects ranging in voltages from 4kV up to 765kV.
Headquartered in Akron, OH, and working nationally, WE&I current manages approximately $500 million in construction projects for electric utilities in the Midwest and Northeast regions of the U.S.
As part of Welty Energy & Infrastructures’s Management Team, the Portfolio Manager will foster client relationships, staff engagement, and process improvement while striving to become the best customer centric professional services consulting firm for electric utilities in our target geographic region.
This role is intended to be based out of our Akron, OH office or remote in Pennsylvania. This role will require 10-20% travel.
As a WE&I Portfolio Manager, you:
- Will lead a team of Project Managers and Project Coordinators who manage transmission and distribution projects for our client(s).
- Recruit and retain high quality talent.
- Support career development of your team; conduct career conversations for your team.
- Assign projects appropriately to your team.
- Consult on your team’s projects where your expertise and guidance is needed; attend site visits as needed.
- Be a SME for all client software, tools and processes that are utilized by your team.
- Provide training to incoming and existing staff.
- Foster a Welty virtual environment via Microsoft Teams.
- Participate in salary administration for your team.
- Will establish and be accountable for goals for yourself and your team that align with WE&I’s rocks including growth goals / targets.
- Drive utilization and performance for your team.
- Drive profitability of your team’s projects.
- Will be part of the WE&I Management Team and collaborate and consult as needed for the benefit of the organization:
- With other Portfolio Managers and other groups (such as Engineering) to share resources and provide support as needed to deliver excellence to our client(s).
- With others as needed to provide consultation on specific projects.
- With other managers to develop processes and solutions that achieve our goals for excellence and client centricity.
- Will foster and maintain a relationship with a designated client and be an advocate for WE&I’s portfolio of services and capabilities.
- Drive functional excellence and client satisfaction.
- Provide general consultation to the client, but project specific decisions / consultations are to be communicated by the assigned Project Manager.
- Will foster a safety-focused culture; perform safety observations during field visits at project locations.
- May be assigned as Project Manager for specific projects as needed.
- May assist with the pursuit of new business with existing and/or potential clients.
- May be assigned specific tasks as needed.
- Will support the company with strategic initiatives.

What you Should Bring to the Table:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or similar. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience managing projects or exceptional, demonstrated experience. Electric utility project management preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience managing people or exceptional, demonstrated experience.
- PMP preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective leadership and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn client’s systems, tools, and processes.
Travel:
- 10-20% travel will be required for the position.
