Operational Improvement Specialist – Clinical Services
3-Month Fixed-Term Contract
We’re looking for an experienced Operational Improvement Specialist to join our Clinical team on a 3-month fixed-term contract, 1 day per week working closely with our Specialist Clinical Nurse Manager to support the operational delivery of our sexual health nursing services.
This is a hands-on role focused on strengthening our clinical operating model, improving workforce planning and supporting a period of service growth and transition.
Skills and experience
You’ll bring:
- Strong operational leadership and service improvement experience, ideally within healthcare, clinical services or another regulated environment.
- Experience of workforce planning, capacity management and improving productivity.
- A track record of supporting service mobilisation, transition or operational change.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data to inform operational decisions.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills and the confidence to work across Clinical, Operations and other teams.
- A hands-on, pragmatic approach, with the ability to work independently and deliver at pace.
Experience of nursing or clinical workforce models, subcontractor transitions, sexual health services or healthcare operations would be an advantage.

Essential skills, experience and qualifications
- Significant operational leadership, service delivery or operational improvement experience.
- Demonstrable experience of workforce planning, capacity management and resource optimisation.
- Experience reviewing operating models and implementing improvements to productivity, resilience and service performance.
- Experience supporting service mobilisation, transition or significant operational change.
- Strong analytical skills, including using operational and performance data to identify issues and inform decisions.
- Strong planning, organisation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage risks, dependencies and competing priorities.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across multidisciplinary teams and senior stakeholders.
- Ability to establish practical processes, reporting, controls and clear operational ownership.
- Able to work independently, quickly establish priorities and deliver tangible outcomes within a short-term assignment.
Desirable skills, experience and qualifications
- Experience within healthcare, clinical services or another regulated service environment.
- Experience working with nursing or other clinical workforce models.
- Experience within sexual health, community healthcare or diagnostic services.
- Experience of subcontractor mobilisation, outsourcing or transferring services between providers.
- Understanding of clinical governance and the operational requirements associated with safe, effective clinical service delivery.
- Experience developing operational KPIs, dashboards or management information.
- Experience supporting service growth, restructuring or transformation.
- Relevant qualification in operations, healthcare management, project/change management or continuous improvement, such as Lean, Six Sigma or PRINCE2
