Native Earth Facilitator

Native Earth is looking for passionate, capable and adventurous people to join our team as Native Earth Facilitators.

This is a diverse role that goes beyond traditional disability support. A Native Earth Facilitator can be a mentor, positive role model, support worker, life coach, trusted companion and Outdoor Action Adventure Tourism Guide.

Our approach is built around action, nature, adventure and authentic human connection. We support people to build confidence, independence, capacity, friendships and meaningful lives through real-world experiences.

No two days are necessarily the same.

You might spend one shift helping someone develop everyday life skills, attend appointments, go shopping, exercise or work towards personal goals. Another shift could involve fishing, hiking, camping, swimming, exploring the coast, attending an event, visiting a tourism destination or heading away on a multi-day respite or adventure experience.

Native Earth Facilitators may support people through:

• Community access and participation
• Mentoring and positive role modelling
• Capacity building and independent living skills
• Social connection and relationship building
• Health, fitness and wellbeing activities
• Outdoor recreation and nature-based experiences
• Action and adventure activities
• Tourism and travel experiences
• Day trips, road trips and regional adventures
• Camps, retreats and multi-day experiences
• Personal development and goal achievement
• Everyday practical support where required

Our goal is not to do everything for someone. Wherever possible, we work with people to increase their confidence, skills, independence and capacity to create the life they want.

We are looking for facilitators who can build genuine human connections while understanding that friendship and authenticity must exist alongside professional boundaries, participant safety, dignity, choice and control.

You don't need to fit a particular personality type to work at Native Earth. We value diversity in our team because our participants have diverse personalities, interests, goals and support needs.

Requirements

We are looking for people who are reliable, respectful, emotionally mature and genuinely interested in supporting others.

Essential requirements include:

• Current Australian driver's licence
• Reliable and suitable vehicle
• Appropriate vehicle insurance
• NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willingness to obtain one before commencing relevant work
• Working With Children Check where required
• Current First Aid and CPR, or willingness to obtain
• Smartphone and reliable internet access
• Ability to complete digital shift notes and workplace documentation
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries
• Commitment to participant dignity, privacy, choice and control
• Willingness to follow Native Earth policies, procedures and safety requirements
• Reliability and ability to honour agreed shifts and commitments

Because our work can involve community access, tourism, outdoor recreation and adventure, applicants should also be comfortable working in varied environments rather than expecting every shift to occur in a home or facility.

Experience or qualifications in disability support, community services, youth work, mentoring, coaching, mental health, outdoor recreation, tourism, adventure guiding, fitness, sport, education, hospitality or related fields are highly regarded.

However, we also recognise the value of life experience, character and transferable skills. Applicants from outside the traditional disability sector are encouraged to apply if they share our values and are willing to complete the necessary compliance and training.
