Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mainframe Developer with 5 to 6 years of hands-on experience in developing, maintaining, and supporting enterprise mainframe applications. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in COBOL, DB2, JCL, and VSAM, with a solid understanding of mainframe development life cycles, production support, and troubleshooting. Exposure to IMS DB/DC is highly desirable and will be considered an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical design and development solutions.
- Develop, enhance, test, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, DB2, JCL, and VSAM.
- Design and develop efficient DB2 SQL queries, stored procedures, and database access modules.
- Create and modify batch jobs, job streams, and utilities using JCL.
- Develop and maintain VSAM files, file processing programs, and data conversion utilities.
- Perform unit testing, integration testing, and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Investigate and resolve production issues, including performance tuning and root cause analysis.
- Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
- Prepare technical documentation, program specifications, and operational procedures.
- Support application modernization and transformation initiatives where applicable.
Required Technical Skills
Mandatory Skills
- Strong hands-on experience in:
- Experience in developing and supporting batch and online mainframe applications.
- Proficiency in DB2 SQL programming, query optimization, and database design concepts.
- Good understanding of file processing, debugging, and performance tuning.
- Experience with Endevor, Changeman, ISPW, or similar source control/version management tools.
- Knowledge of Mainframe Utilities such as SORT, IDCAMS, IEBGENER, and DFSORT.
- Experience in production support and incident management.
Good to Have
- Exposure to IMS DB and/or IMS DC.
- Experience with CICS development.
- Knowledge of MQ Series integration.
- Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies.
Familiarity with mainframe modernization or cloud integration initiatives
