Lead Computer Scientist

Science Systems and Applications, Inc. (SSAI) is seeking a Lead Computer Scientist to support scientific software development and AI/ML initiatives. In this role, you will design, develop, and deploy Python software on high-performance computing systems to process and analyze large volumes of commercial satellite imagery.

Key Responsibilities:

· Design, develop and deploy machine learning workflows to support Earth science research applications.

· Develop workflows to process and analyze large volumes of commercial satellite imagery.

· Adapt, improve, and scale existing geospatial workflows for deployment to cloud computing environments.

Required Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s (B.S.) degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Earth/Geophysical Sciences, GIS, or a related technical discipline and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.

· Strong programming skills in Python and experience deploying scientific computing workflows within high-performance computing environments.

· Experience developing and deploying AI/ML solutions to Earth science, climate, environmental, geospatial, remote sensing, or other large scientific datasets.

· Experience working with large environmental, remote sensing, or geospatial datasets.

· Experience with Linux and scientific computing environments.

· U.S. Citizenship required.

Desired Qualifications:

· Experience with commercial satellite data products such as Vantor, Planet, or similar Earth observation datasets.

· Experience with PyTorch, Tensorflow, Keras, or similar machine learning software.

· Knowledge of GDAL, QGIS, or similar geospatial software packages.
