Description

The Director of Research and Student Engagement will support the Emory Policy Institute on Countering Antisemitism’s (EPICA) research, education, and student engagement priorities. This position will coordinate EPICA’s research fellowship programs, student fellowships and internships, academic programming, and engagement opportunities that connect students, faculty, visiting scholars, policy experts, and external partners. The Director will help ensure that EPICA’s work reflects Emory’s standards of academic rigor while preparing students to engage thoughtfully with policy, diplomacy, research, and public leadership related to countering antisemitism.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Directs the strategic planning, development and implementation of a large and complex program or of several smaller programs.
  • Plans, administers and monitors program budgets.
  • Develops short and long term goals and objectives.
  • Oversees related special projects.
  • May represent the program in various national and international settings.
  • May manage the solicitation of funding from foundation, corporate, individual and governmental donors.
  • Collaborates with and seeks the support of representatives from other organizations.
  • Establishes and administers policies and procedures.
  • Supervises staff.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to program work and seven years of related experience which includes two years at a management level, OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS: 

  • Develop and manage EPICA’s student fellowship and internship programs, including recruitment, selection, onboarding, portfolio development, student support, and assessment.
  • Coordinate research fellowship activities, including application processes, scholar engagement, fellows’ seminars, public lectures, and research presentations. Speaking at major national and international conferences and other events at the discretion of EPICA’s top leadership.
  • Work with EPICA leadership, faculty advisers, and external partners to support policy-relevant research on antisemitism, democracy, law, international relations, and history.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for students participating in EPICA programs in Atlanta, Washington, D.C., and other approved locations.
  • Support student professional development through structured advising, mentorship opportunities, workshops, and connections to policy, diplomatic, nonprofit, and research careers.
  • Collaborate and manage relationships with faculty, staff, visiting experts, and external partners to develop student-facing programs, seminars, roundtables, and experiential learning opportunities.
  • Track student participation, fellowship outcomes, research activity, and program impact for internal reporting, donor stewardship, and strategic planning.
  • Directly manage DC-based internships and fellows when relevant. Help lead year-long engagement with the federal government, including representing EPICA as its sole fully DC-based senior staff.
  • Advise on EPICA’s annual budget to ensure it meets stated mission and goals. Help lead, author, and coordinate EPICA’s public-facing research and educational programs, including lectures, workshops, and convenings.
  • Maintain confidentiality and sound judgment when working with sensitive student, faculty, donor, policy, or institutional matters.
  • Perform related responsibilities as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, diplomats, andexternal partners.
  • Strong organizational, writing, communication, and project management skills.Experience handling sensitive matters with discretion, diplomacy, and sound judgment
