This is an individual-contributor role responsible for developing architecture models, diagrams, technical analyses, roadmaps, and governance artifacts under the direction of the Chief Enterprise Architect / Deputy CTO.
The Enterprise Architect will translate program, engineering, data, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and acquisition inputs into current-state, transition, and target architectures. Primary areas of support include ESS Next, JOMIS, DHMSM, EIDS, MHS GENESIS, operational medicine systems, CAMEO implementation, and shared development and test environments.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and maintain current-state, transition, and target architectures across business, application, service, data, infrastructure, technology, and security domains.
- Create and update architecture and MBSE artifacts in CAMEO, Visio, and other approved tools, including process models, capability and function maps, system and service views, data models, interface diagrams, data-flow diagrams, sequence diagrams, dependency maps, and requirements traceability.
- Support ESS Next and JOMIS architecture activities by documenting end-to-end workflows, laboratory and test-environment processes, data synchronization, system interfaces, dependencies, and information exchanges with MHS GENESIS and other enterprise services.
- Review requirements, use cases, performance work statements, acquisition materials, service catalogs, technical designs, and interface documentation for completeness, consistency, interoperability, scalability, security, maintainability, and alignment with enterprise standards.
- Support the PEO DHMS CAMEO and MBSE implementation by developing modeling conventions, templates, repository structures, traceability methods, validation criteria, user guidance, and quality-control processes.
- Develop and maintain architecture governance products, including standards, standard operating procedures, review checklists, architecture decision records, approval workflows, and compliance documentation.
- Conduct technical research, alternatives analyses, trade studies, and impact assessments. Document architecture risks, issues, dependencies, decisions, mitigation actions, roadmaps, and plans of action and milestones.
- Facilitate architecture working sessions and technical reviews. Prepare concise diagrams, briefings, technical memoranda, recommendations, and decision-support materials for government, technical, and leadership audiences.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:

- Minimum of five years of enterprise architecture, solution architecture, systems engineering, or MBSE experience supporting DoD or another complex federal technology environment.
- Recent experience supporting the Defense Health Agency, PEO DHMS, or the Military Health System is strongly preferred. Relevant programs may include JOMIS, DHMSM, MHS GENESIS, MHS GENESIS-Theater, EIDS, ESS or ESS Next, operational medicine, or federal health-data interoperability.
- Hands-on experience developing and maintaining models in CAMEO, MagicDraw, Magic Systems of Systems Architect, or a comparable architecture and MBSE tool.
- Proficiency with DoDAF 2.02, UAF, SysML, and the development of process models, data models, sequence diagrams, capability maps, system views, service views, interface diagrams, and traceability relationships.
- Working knowledge of enterprise and hybrid-cloud environments, DevSecOps, APIs, data exchange, system interoperability, development and test environments, and cybersecurity architecture.
- Experience reviewing and translating requirements, requests for proposal, performance work statements, interface-control documents, system designs, technical standards, and test materials into architecture products.
- Strong technical writing, diagramming, briefing, and facilitation skills. Must be able to work independently, organize incomplete information, manage multiple assignments, and deliver accurate products within established timelines.
- Experience working in Agile environments and applying configuration-management, change-management, and version-control practices.
