How You’ll Contribute:
At Diversified, we design and deliver technology solutions that protect, connect and elevate the world’s most complex environments. Within our Electronic Security Solutions (ESS) team, we go beyond traditional security, engineering integrated electronic security systems including IP-based access control, video surveillance and intrusion detection systems that safeguard people, assets and operations.
The Design Engineer 2– Electronic Security is a key member of the ESS Project Engineering team, supporting the design and delivery of electronic security systems across the project lifecycle—from initial concept through construction documentation and delivery support.
Working across access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection systems, you will develop system designs, support project engineering activities, and collaborate with internal teams and clients to ensure solutions meet technical and operational requirements. You will work closely with Senior Design Engineers and engineering leadership, contributing to complex projects while continuing to develop technical expertise and design capabilities.
What You’ll Do:
Support the design of electronic security systems, including access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection solutions.
Develop system concepts, specifications, and requirements aligned to client needs and project scope.
Produce Bills of Materials (BOMs), estimates, and supporting documentation for proposals and projects.
Develop and support design deliverables, including 30%, 60%, 90%, and IFC drawings.
Provide technical coordination to support system architecture, installation, and integration activities.
Research, evaluate, and recommend security technologies and product solutions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support design, engineering, and project delivery.
Support client engagement activities, including clarifying requirements and managing expectations.
Maintain project documentation and ensure alignment with design standards and requirements.
Provide guidance to junior team members and support issue resolution across projects.
Maintain knowledge of ESS technologies, industry trends, and best practices through ongoing training.
Physical Demands:
Work is primarily performed in office or remote environments, with occasional exposure to construction sites. Employees are responsible for following all safety requirements and PPE standards when onsite.
The role may involve extended periods on feet when onsite, along with use of standard office and technical equipment. Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.
Travel:
Occasional travel by car and air is required. A valid driver’s license in state of residence is required, and mileage will be reimbursed in accordance with company policy.
What You’ll Bring:
Education & Certifications:
High school diploma or GED required.
Associates degree required and/or equivalent experience.
Certifications or training with Milestone and Lenel preferred.
Certifications or training with Genetec, Avigilon and S2 preferred.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in technical systems design.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, BIM, and MS Office 365.
Ability to obtain a government-issued Top Secret Clearance (US-based only).
Clear understanding of project phases including program, conceptual design, design development, construction documentation, and commissioning.
Strong understanding of construction processes, installation practices, and system integration.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
Self-motivated and detail-oriented with strong time management skills.
Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities, including technical troubleshooting and issue analysis.
