DATA ENGINEER
Location: India | Remote
Schedule: Full-Time
EVS is seeking a Data Engineer to help build and scale the data platform that powers our engineering applications, AI initiatives, and internal software ecosystem. This is an exciting opportunity for a data professional who enjoys designing reliable data pipelines, integrating systems, and building the infrastructure that enables intelligent decision-making across the business.
As a Data Engineer, you'll work closely with our software, AI, and full stack development teams to develop scalable data solutions that support renewable energy engineering, analytics, and next-generation digital products.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Design, build, and maintain reliable data pipelines that move information between EVS applications, databases, cloud services, and analytical platforms
- Develop integrations between PostgreSQL databases, AWS services, internal software applications, and third-party systems
- Build and support data ingestion pipelines, including embedding generation workflows for AI-enabled applications
- Implement testing, monitoring, version control, and observability practices to ensure reliable and maintainable data pipelines
- Partner with Full Stack and AI Engineers to develop scalable platform architecture and data integrations
- Contribute to data architecture decisions, including schema design, normalization, indexing strategies, and data access patterns
- Support cloud-based data infrastructure, deployments, and platform reliability initiatives
- Evaluate technical approaches and recommend scalable, maintainable data solutions
- Implement data quality validation, governance, and monitoring across engineering systems
- Participate in architecture reviews, code reviews, and technical discussions while helping establish data engineering standards and best practices
- Collaborate across the innovation team to support evolving data, analytics, and AI initiatives
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
- 3+ years of professional experience in Data Engineering, Backend Software Development, or a related technical role
- Experience designing, building, and supporting production data pipelines and system integrations
- Strong proficiency with PostgreSQL or other relational database platforms, including schema design, query optimization, and data modeling
- Advanced Python and SQL programming skills for data engineering and transformation workflows
- Experience with data processing libraries such as Pandas, Polars, or similar frameworks
- Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services including S3, EC2, IAM, Lambda, RDS, or comparable cloud technologies
- Experience with Git, GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software development best practices
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical teams
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or AWS CDK is preferred
- Familiarity with orchestration tools such as Airflow, AWS Step Functions, Glue, or EventBridge is a plus
- Experience with dbt, Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, or similar modern data platforms is preferred
- Knowledge of vector databases, embedding pipelines, RAG architectures, or AI data infrastructure is a plus
- Experience working with PostGIS, geospatial data, Docker, containerized applications, or event-driven architectures is beneficial
- Experience within engineering, AEC, utilities, renewable energy, or technical consulting environments is a plus
