JOB SUMMARY
The Accounting Manager will oversee the financial operations of a division within Marketing.com, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulatory standards, and alignment with the company’s strategic objectives. This role will manage key accounting processes and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the financial health of business units generating $50M-$120M in annual revenue. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and skilled in driving process improvements while maintaining strong internal controls.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Financial Reconciliation and Reporting:
- Perform and review monthly bank reconciliations, AR/AP aging reports, credit card transactions, and intercompany reconciliations to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Oversee general ledger maintenance, ensuring accurate classification and recording of all transactions.
- Prepare and review financial statements in compliance with GAAP, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
- Lead quarterly account clean-up processes to prepare for financial reporting.
- Expense and Revenue Management:
- Manage expense allocations by location, accounting period, and general ledger account for precise cost tracking.
- Ensure proper matching of revenues and expenses, including intercompany alignments, per accrual accounting principles.
- Allocate interest expenses and maintain prepaid expense schedules with proper amortization.
- Record and review accruals to reflect expenses and liabilities accurately.
- Reconcile Selling, General, and Administrative (SGA) expenses to align with budgetary expectations.
- Inventory and Customer Accounts:
- Oversee end-of-month inventory processes, including unit costing, physical counts, and reconciliations.
- Manage customer deposits and postage accounts, ensuring proper recording and reconciliation.
- Verify and process rebates in compliance with agreements.
- Team Leadership and Collaboration:
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering a high-performing team through guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
- Collaborate with plant and department leaders to review profit and loss statements, analyze revenue/expense trends, and provide insights for financial reviews.
- Compliance and Audit Support:
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements, including tax filings.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors, preparing documentation and responding to inquiries for seamless audit processes.
- Process Optimization:
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of accounting operations.
- Support or lead the integration and optimization of ERP systems, such as NetSuite, to streamline financial processes.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist in preparing budgets and financial forecasts, providing data-driven insights to support strategic planning.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (NetSuite experience a plus) and advanced Excel skills.
- Proven ability to manage complex reconciliations, financial reporting, and compliance processes.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to collaborate across departments and mentor staff.
- Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
