Job purpose: 

We are seeking a Senior Quality Assurance Specialist - Automation, to help ensure the delivery of high-quality digital experiences across web platforms, applications, and digital products. 


This role combines traditional quality assurance responsibilities with modern automation practices. The ideal candidate will contribute to test strategy, quality processes, automation frameworks, risk identification, release readiness, and continuous improvement initiatives while collaborating closely with developers, designers, project managers, product owners, and technical stakeholders.


The Senior Quality Assurance Specialist - Automation serves as a quality advocate throughout the software development lifecycle, helping teams deliver reliable, accessible, secure, and scalable digital experiences while reducing manual effort through effective test automation.


Job details: 

  • Location: 100% Remote. Open to candidates based in Costa Rica, Mexico, or Colombia.
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, aligned with business operating hours
  • Job Type: Temporary contract, full-time engagement, approximately 4 to 5 months.
  • Language Proficiency: Spanish native or fluent, English C1+ for reading, writing, and conversation
  • Availability: 
    • Near-future opportunity with an estimated start date of September 1st. This is not an immediate assignment.


Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Analyze project requirements, acceptance criteria, and design specifications to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive test plans, test cases, traceability matrices, test data, and QA documentation.
  • Execute and coordinate functional, regression, integration, end-to-end, and non-functional testing activities.
  • Monitor project quality against business requirements and design specifications.
  • Identify, document, communicate, and help mitigate quality risks throughout project lifecycles.
  • Create defect tickets, track issues to resolution, and validate fixes.
  • Communicate test results, issues, risks, and recommendations to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, release planning, and retrospective sessions.
  • Ensure production issues are analyzed and converted into preventive testing scenarios when applicable.
  • Develop and execute automated end-to-end, regression, functional, and integration test suites using Playwright and related automation tools.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce repetitive manual testing through automation.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or similar deployment workflows.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to improve application testability and automation coverage.
  • Support cross-browser and cross-device testing initiatives using BrowserStack or equivalent platforms.
  • Contribute to automation best practices, framework improvements, and continuous quality engineering initiatives.
  • Provide visibility into product quality, release readiness, testing progress, and risk areas.
  • Create QA reports, dashboards, metrics, and quality summaries for stakeholders.
  • Work closely with Developers, Designers, Product Owners, Project Managers, and QA team members to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Support onboarding and mentoring of QA team members when needed.
  • Continuously improve QA methodologies, testing standards, and automation practices.
  • Promote a proactive quality mindset across Agile teams and throughout the SDLC.


Academic Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Equivalent professional experience in software quality assurance, test automation, software development, or quality engineering will also be considered.
  • Relevant certifications in QA, Test Automation, Agile, ISTQB, or related disciplines are a plus.


Required Skills & Experience:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in Quality Assurance, Test Automation, Quality Engineering, or SDET-related roles.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Playwright.
  • Experience with automation frameworks such as Cypress, Selenium, WebDriverIO, or similar tools.
  • Proven experience in website testing, particularly on CMS-based applications.
  • Hands-on experience working with corporate CMS platforms such as Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), Contentful, Sitecore, Contentstack, or similar systems.
  • Experience designing, maintaining, and scaling automated testing frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, strategies, and industry best practices.
  • Experience creating test plans, test cases, traceability matrices, and QA documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of end-to-end, regression, integration, functional, and cross-browser testing.
  • Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or similar tools.
  • Experience with Jira, TestRail, GitHub, Confluence, or similar defect and test management platforms.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and software development lifecycle processes.
  • Experience identifying quality risks, test coverage gaps, and automation opportunities.
  • Ability to analyze requirements and identify missing, unclear, or incomplete information.
  • Strong analytical thinking, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to provide clear, concise, and actionable feedback.
  • Experience collaborating with distributed or offshore teams.
  • Extensive knowledge of Windows and/or MacOS environments.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience introducing or scaling automation practices within product or platform teams.
  • Experience with BrowserStack, Responsively App, TestDome, or similar tools for cross-browser, responsive, and device compatibility testing across web applications and digital platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with accessibility testing, including validation against WCAG 2.1/2.2 guidelines, ARIA implementation, and ADA compliance requirements for web-based digital experiences.
  • Experience with API testing and validation, including REST APIs, authentication flows, request/response verification, integration testing, and tools such as Postman, Playwright API, Insomnia, or Swagger.
  • Familiarity with performance, accessibility, and security testing practices.
  • Knowledge of JavaScript, TypeScript, or other languages commonly used in automation.
  • Experience working in digital platforms, SaaS, creative technology, content technology, marketing technology, or agency environments.
  • Experience supporting highly distributed Agile teams.


Nice to have, not exclusive

  • ISTQB Certification or equivalent QA certification.
  • Experience collaborating with product teams to improve acceptance criteria and application testability.
