Senior C++ Engineer

This is a remote position.

We are seeking a Senior C++ Engineer to drive the enhancement and security of critical desktop software within the healthcare sector. In this role, you will perform code analyses, resolve vulnerabilities, and optimise desktop applications to meet stringent performance and safety standards.

• Role: Full-time contract / freelance basis with a daily rate
  
• Location: Remote (Europe), requiring only occasional onsite visits in Central/North Germany
  

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance modern C++ components for high-performance desktop applications with a strong focus on system stability and IT security.
  

• Analyse existing software architecture against established security specifications to detect, remediate, and prevent vulnerabilities.
  

• Collaborate cross-functionally with software architecture, quality assurance, and product management teams to ensure robust software delivery.
  

• Leverage AI coding agents to accelerate code analysis, streamline bug fixes, and improve engineering workflows.
  

• Conduct complex multithreading analysis and debugging to maximise system efficiency.
  

Requirements

Must-Have Requirements:

• Proven extensive experience as a Senior C++ Engineer working with high-performance, multithreaded desktop applications.
  

• Proficiency in modern C++ standard practices.
  

• In-depth expertise in system security, multithreading, and advanced debugging techniques.
  

• Solid practical experience using build systems and toolchains including CMake, Conan, and MSVC.
  

• Structured, analytical approach to problem-solving with high quality standards.
  

• Eligibility Residency in the EU, EEA, UK, or Switzerland.
  

• Fluent English.

Preferred Requirements:

• Practical familiarity with AI coding agents (such as Claude Code) or similar automated engineering tools.
  

• Exposure to formal IT security standards or regulatory compliance frameworks.
  

• Prior experience delivering software solutions within regulated industries or the healthcare domain.
  

• University degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  

• German speaking is nice to have.
