What you will do

• Core Engineering: Build and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, and data pipelines using Python and Java.

• Cloud Architecture: Develop cloud-native solutions on AWS and contribute to modern platform architecture.

• AI Agent Frameworks: Design and deliver production-grade, agent-based architectures using the ReAct pattern and multi-agent orchestration.

• Advanced RAG Pipelines: Implement advanced Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions for complex data parsing.

• Data Harmonization: Drive automation of healthcare and genomics data harmonization processes using automated pipelines and ML models.

• Team Collaboration: Collaborate with product, engineering, and data teams to deliver high-quality solutions at scale.

Your team will include

• Domain Experts: Engineering, product, and data specialists.

• Infrastructure Leads: Cloud and DevOps professionals.

• Global Network: International teams working across BC Platforms products.

Your roadmap in this role

Within 6 months

• Initial Delivery: Contribute production-ready services supporting current customer and partner initiatives.

• Team Alignment: Establish strong working relationships with engineering, product, and data teams.

• AI Assessment: Identify opportunities for automation, ML model integration, and platform improvements.

Within a year

• Scalable AI Tools: Deliver scalable, reusable data harmonization capabilities for multiple data partners.

• Ecosystem Integration: Accelerate integration between our core products.

• Technical Direction: Help define architecture standards for next-generation backend, ML pipelines, and agentic services.

What makes you a strong fit

• Experience: 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, focusing on backend and distributed systems.

• Soft Skills: Excellent communication, collaboration, and technical documentation skills.

• Core Languages: Strong Python expertise and solid Java/Spring knowledge.

• Cloud Infrastructure: Experience building cloud-native applications on AWS and Kubernetes.

• System Design: Strong understanding of microservices, APIs, and database technologies.

• Agent Development: Practical experience building LLM applications using the ReAct pattern, LangGraph, CrewAI, Autogen or Google ADK.

• AI Productivity: Strong understanding of AI tools and use of AI-assisted software development.

• Language: Fluent English.

You’ll stand out if you have

• Domain Expertise: Experience working with healthcare, genomics, life sciences, or other regulated industries.

• Compliance: Understanding of GDPR, data governance, and privacy-by-design principles.

• Modernization: Experience contributing to platform modernization and large-scale data ecosystems.

• Regulated ML/AI: Experience deploying Machine Learning models or autonomous agents under strict compliance and data-privacy constraints.
