Requirements
Candidate Requirements:
We seek highly motivated candidates with 5 to 10 years of experience in electrical engineering. Candidates should have examples of complex urban design and build projects (extra points if in urban rights-of-way) that have been physically built and are in use. Experience deploying EV charging is not a requirement; however, all candidates should be knowledgeable about electrical distribution systems in cities and buildings. Candidates should be familiar with and comfortable interpreting NFPA 70 (NEC) and the National Electric Safety Code.
Strong candidates will have experience seeing complex projects through from concept to completion. Candidates should be comfortable using traditional collaborative drafting and diagramming tools (AutoCAD, Bluebeam) and be able to clearly convey engineering principles using non-technical language. Candidates will have experience working with trades and contractors during the construction and sign-off phases, and will be able to contribute to the development and ongoing maintenance of project tracking and documentation tools and assets.
As this is a fully remote role, candidates are expected to be highly autonomous, comfortable with occasional ambiguity, able to manage time effectively, and effective communicators (erring on the side of over-communication). Candidates should demonstrate the ability to thrive without direct daily supervision, and be highly organized to independently advance projects. As such, the engineer will make engineering calculations to prepare engineering designs and specifications; prepare plans and drawings neatly and accurately to it’s electric’s guidelines; deal effectively with contractors, property owners and the general public; understand and interpret engineering as-builts; and ensure project compliance with State, Federal, and local rules, laws and regulations, including as set by the local utility.
it’s electric is a rapidly growing start-up, and we are looking for candidates willing to embrace the challenges and excitement inherent in a growing company. The role will challenge candidates to work with new technology, develop novel processes, and implement standard procedures that develop over time. Candidates must demonstrate the capacity to build and maintain productive, positive, and long-term relationships with stakeholders, while proactively and assertively tending the permitting, technical, and highly targeted project schedule.
Only Licensed Professional Engineers, or engineers who have completed their Engineer-in-Training programs will be considered for this role. Licensed PE is strongly preferred. Professional license must be maintained as a condition of employment.
Physical Requirements:
Candidates must be able to lift equipment (up to 40 pounds) as necessary. This position is fully remote; however, candidates should have flexibility to travel for local meetings in person as needed, as well as to it’s electric’s headquarters in Brooklyn (also as needed).
The salary range for this role is $150K-$160K, depending on length and relevance of candidate’s experience.
