Platform Engineer (Microsoft Azure & Fabric)

Responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced Platform Engineer to design, automate and operate an enterprise Microsoft Fabric platform.

The role combines Cloud Platform Engineering, Microsoft Fabric administration and DevOps, with a strong focus on reliability, security, automation and platform scalability.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Design, implement and operate the Microsoft Fabric platform.
• Manage Fabric capacities, workspaces and environments.
• Define platform standards, guardrails and reusable architecture patterns.
• Configure security, access controls and RBAC.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code and platform automation.
• Build CI/CD pipelines for Fabric deployments.
• Automate environment provisioning and configuration.
• Implement platform monitoring, alerting and observability.
• Manage capacity, performance and platform utilisation.
• Troubleshoot incidents and perform root-cause analysis.
• Support Data Engineering, BI and AI teams using the platform.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric administration, including Fabric Capacities, Workspace & Tenant Administration, OneLake/Lakehouse, Fabric Data Factory, Fabric Warehouse, Fabric Notebooks, and Power BI/Semantic Models. 
• Solid understanding of Azure cloud architecture and enterprise data platform environments. 
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git-based development workflows, and automated release processes. 
• Proven experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and managing automated deployments. 
• Strong knowledge of identity and access management (IAM), cloud security, monitoring, incident management, and platform performance optimization. 

Desired skills

• Experience with Terraform or Bicep for infrastructure automation. 
• Knowledge of Azure DevOps, including deployment and release management practices. 
• Scripting and automation experience using PowerShell and/or Python. 
• Familiarity with Microsoft Purview, Azure Data Factory, and/or Azure Databricks. 
• Understanding of Kubernetes, FinOps, DataOps practices, and relevant Microsoft Fabric or Azure certifications.
