Corrections Subject Matter Expert
Full time | 100% remote, United States | Contingent on contract award | Anticipated start late September 2026

Connexus Hub Inc. is a woman-owned small business that supports federal agencies with professional and technical services. We are hiring a Corrections Subject Matter Expert to serve as the technical authority on a federal corrections training modernization program.

This is the person who makes sure the training is right. A team of instructional designers and multimedia developers will rebuild a portfolio of corrections courses, and you are the one who tells them what actually happens inside a facility, what the policy requires, and what a course gets wrong. The work is fully remote and this position is contingent on contract award.

What you will do

  • Serve as the technical expert for designing, updating, modernizing, and evaluating correctional curricula across e-learning, micro-learning, and instructor-led courses.
  • Work side by side with instructional designers to build lesson plans, courses, and interactive exercises that line up with corrections policy and with federal, state, and local regulation.
  • Review draft content for operational and technical accuracy, and say so plainly when something would not hold up in a real facility.
  • Provide authoritative guidance on core corrections subjects to the project team and to the customer.
  • Use testing metrics to assess whether a course is achieving what it was built to achieve, and recommend changes when it is not.
  • Perform quality control on deliverables before they reach the customer.

What you need

  • An associate's degree or higher in a relevant field: criminal justice, criminology, psychology, sociology, public administration, or emergency management.
  • Completion of state- or agency-certified corrections academy training. You will be asked to provide the certificate.
  • Seven or more years of experience in core corrections subject areas, to include recent in-field corrections experience, development of occupational subject matter content, and quality control of deliverables.
  • Deep familiarity with adult learning materials and with current correctional facility operations, including safety and security operations.
  • Availability during core hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern, Monday through Friday.

What helps

  • Experience as a corrections training academy instructor, training officer, or curriculum developer.
  • PREA experience, including work as a PREA auditor or PREA coordinator.
  • Depth in any of these subjects: use of force and less-lethal options, cell search and transport, emergency preparedness, contraband and key control, crisis de-escalation, inmate rights and constitutional law, suicide prevention and intervention, ethics and professional conduct, and coaching in corrections.
  • Prior work alongside instructional designers on e-learning development, and awareness of Section 508 accessibility expectations.
  • Federal corrections experience, including the Bureau of Prisons or the National Institute of Corrections.

Details

  • Employment type: full time, approximately 1,860 hours per year. Overtime is not authorized on this program.
  • Location: fully remote from anywhere in the United States. No travel is required.
  • Compensation: [salary range] per year, plus [benefits summary].
  • This position is contingent on award of the contract to Connexus Hub Inc. and on any background or suitability screening the customer requires.
