The role involves shipping production software by orchestrating AI coding agents and designing MCP tool integrations. You will build multi-agent workflows, implement security guardrails, and establish evaluation metrics to improve agent performance.
About the role
We are looking for an Agentic Coding Engineer to join our Agentic Development practice — a hands-on build role at the frontier of AI-driven software delivery. You will work alongside product and delivery teams to ship production software by directing AI coding agents, designing the tool integrations that power them, and building the multi-agent workflows that keep everything fast, safe, and reviewable.
In this role, prompts, agent configurations, skills, and MCP tool integrations are treated as first-class engineering assets — version-controlled, tested, and held to the same quality bar as any other production code. You will operate at the intersection of software engineering rigor and emerging agentic tooling, helping define how the practice scales across client engagements.
What you will do:
Agent-Driven Delivery
- Ship, refactor, and maintain features by orchestrating agentic coding tools (Claude Code, Codex) in a tight prompt → diff → test → review loop.
- Decompose complex work for subagents and agent teams, defining narrow responsibilities, clear trigger conditions, and least-privilege tool access.
MCP & Tool Integration
- Design, build, and operate MCP servers that connect agents to databases, APIs, logs, and internal systems through well-scoped, single-purpose tools.
- Apply strong tool-schema design, input/output validation, and additive versioning so agents call tools reliably and safely.
Safety, Security & Governance
- Implement authentication and scoped authorization (OAuth 2.1, short-lived tokens), sandboxed tool execution, and careful secrets handling across all agent workflows.
- Establish guardrails, permissions models, and human-in-the-loop review checkpoints to keep autonomous changes auditable and reliable.
Quality, Evals & Observability
- Build evaluations and regression checks to continuously measure and improve agent performance.
- Instrument agent workflows and MCP servers with logging, tracing, metrics, and rate limiting; maintain all configs, skills, and hooks in version control wired into CI/CD.
Collaboration & Enablement
- Partner with product and delivery teams to identify the highest-value workflows to automate and define the roadmap for agentic tooling adoption.
- Produce clear design documentation for prompt strategies and MCP configurations so the wider team can adopt, extend, and maintain them independently.
What you bring:
- 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, with recent hands-on delivery using agentic coding tools in a production context.
- Strong engineering fundamentals and professional proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript, with solid Git and CI/CD practice.
- Demonstrable experience driving Claude Code and/or Codex to ship real software — beyond experimentation or prototyping.
- Practical experience building or integrating MCP servers: tool-schema design, authentication and scopes, validation, and versioning.
- Working knowledge of multi-agent orchestration — subagents and agent teams, context management, and failure handling in agentic loops.
- Strong prompt and context engineering skills, and the judgment to know when to trust an agent versus intervene directly.
- Experience designing and running evals to assess and improve agent output quality over time.
- Security-aware mindset: least-privilege access, sandboxing, and safe secrets handling are instincts, not afterthoughts.
- Excellent English communication skills — clear written design docs and the confidence to engage North American, UK, and European stakeholders directly.
Nice if you have:
- Experience standing up MCP servers in production — transport selection, OAuth/OIDC or SAML federation, and observability.
- Familiarity with FastMCP (Python) or the TypeScript MCP SDK with Zod for building type-safe servers.
- Exposure to orchestration frameworks such as LangChain or LangGraph, or experience with agent-first IDEs.
- Relevant certification (e.g., Claude Certified Architect) or open-source contributions to MCP or agent tooling ecosystems.
- Cloud experience on AWS or Azure, with a DevOps or DataOps background.
- Awareness of agent-to-agent (A2A) communication patterns and emerging MCP enterprise auth standards (PKCE, identity federation).
