Our direct client is looking for Website Information Architect . This is remote work Schedule and timeline Resource(s) are needed now and at least through December 2021. The Cityrsquos IT Department needs one or more people to provide Website Information Architect services for specific content transformation work on the Cityrsquos public website project. Specific schedule, hours, assignment duration, and work location will be finalized at hire. Work and the approved number of hours will be assigned based on project needs at the direction of the Information Technology Department. Individuals must be able to work remotely with potential for part time on-site work. Position requires some team meetingswork sessions between the hours of 800 a.m.- 500 p.m. If onsite work is required, the location would be in downtown Minneapolis, in City office space within or near City Hall, 350 S Fifth 5th Street. Individuals must provide own computer and Internet access, ability to access City website and Microsoft applications online, and ability to participate in online meetings using Microsoft Teams or other City online meeting tools, using audio and video to participate in meetings with City project team and staff. Scope of services The Website Information Architect provides professional services to augment the Cityrsquos public website project team. Successful applicants will have strong communication skills, excellent technical abilities, and effective analytical abilities. Proven years of experience in web communication and accessibility best practices is required. Expanding the racial and language diversity within the team is also an important component for augmenting resources on the public website project. This position will be involved with meeting the goals of these project areas Redesign ndash new look, feel and user interface Reorganization ndash content presented from residentsrsquo perspective Readability ndash content rewritten using plain language and active voice Inclusivity ndash meets WCAG AA 2.1 accessibility guidelines Findability ndash add search terms to content and use new search functionality Technology ndash using a new, secure web content management system Specific job activities Uses their proven user experience skills to quickly understand the established personas, use cases, and other materials as well as existing navigation and content organization of the Cityrsquos new public website, Applies this knowledge to hold collaborative meetings with internal and external stakeholders to understand content needs and requirements based on City services and processes reviews and integrates the related content from the Cityrsquos original public website, From these meetings, develops a proposed information architecture of how this web content should be incorporated into the new public site. Ensures website navigation and content logically flows from one page to another and follows City guidelines. Creates sitemap. Conducts online usability testing. Interprets data and qualitative feedback. Hands off approved information architecture to web team to implement. Provide with proposal Hourly rate. Schedule Work sample for review to demonstrate website information architecture The Interview process will include a hands-on exercise to demonstrate information architecture skills using sample content from the Cityrsquos public website. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Required Considerable knowledge of how websites work technically and from the visitor At a minimum community or technical college degree with a focus in computer science, website content management, communications or related degree and at least 3 yearsrsquo experience in website information architecture experience or related role OR 5 years experience in website information architecture experience or related Ability to think structurally, organize things well, detailed attention to labeling and Proven experience in organizing and managing structured and unstructured information for a large organization. Understanding of desktop, mobile and responsive web Ability to understand the organizationrsquos goals and see where the opportunities are across audience groups. Excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills to collaborate with people in relation to content organization planning and Skilled at requirements analysis, planning, database management able to clearly present technical information, solve problems provide ad hoc reporting perform data Ability to merge user research, content analysis, business goals, and other inputs to synthesize for effective use during the information architecture process and Cultural agility ndash understands the diversity of the public we serve demonstrates an awareness of, and sensitivity to, the needs and concerns of individuals from different perspectives, cultures and backgrounds.
