The Commercial Market Ideation Leader will lead driving the ideation and innovation of new product ideas, businesses to build, and drive transformational go-to-market projects across OI for the Commercial Market that will focus on longer term, out-year projects. This leader is focused on meeting with 3rd party companies, internal executive stakeholders, and clients to identify and drive net-new innovative ideas, products, and businesses. This leader will need to be aware of and understand market trends and competitive intel and work with internal stakeholders to adjust strategy and roadmaps accordingly. This leader is expected to incorporate business acumen and industry expertise to drive top line growth. This leader is accountable for the performance and results of the business through multiple layers of management and senior level professional staff.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with growth partners to identify voice of customer needs in the marketplace around transformational business opportunities
  • Ideate net-new product and business initiatives that could drive revenue opportunities for OI/Optum/UHG in lines of business not currently offered today
  • Drive new business/product build and design thinking for the OI business for new transformational business ideas
  • Partner with Product to move these transformational business ideas through the Accelerate process and to set solution and integration strategy to ensure new out-year growth
  • Serves as an Executive partner to senior leaders across OI, Optum, and clients to engage in designing new transformational products/businesses
  • Partner with growth partners to develop qualified new business pipeline aligned to future model roadmap capabilities
  • Market test with growth partners and product for new business incubation ideas
  • Partner with Finance to design client specific financial models that join multiple solutions and risk models together to support customer needs and Optum financial objectives
  • Create short and long term strategies to ensure growth and achievement of sustainable revenue targets for Optum
  • Identify solution design opportunities that can drive Product enhancements and further support growth and efficiency gains on holistic partnership deals
  • Develop ongoing client support and governance structure as part of the deal design efforts to ensure successful transition from deal to implementation in each pursuit

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in health plan operations in product, finance, consulting or growth roles
  • 5+ years of experience with product strategy, business model development, and top line growth
  • Experience driving initiatives in a heavily matrixed environment which requires the ability to influence and hold accountable without direct oversight
  • Proven business development success and sales experience in identifying and recommending new opportunities and initiatives for continual growth
  • Demonstrated experience using hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and develop business cases
  • Demonstrated ability to articulate complicated ideas and strategies in a clear, concise fashion
  • Willingness to travel domestically, up to 25%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or master's degree in business or healthcare
  • Experience mentoring and leading teams
  • Experience in program management, leading large strategic initiatives

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $130,300 to $250,200.
