Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute the organization's HITL and operational strategy to support AI development and business objectives.
  • Establish long-term operational roadmaps that enable scalable growth and evolving AI requirements.
  • Partner with executive leadership to align operational priorities with company goals.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement across AI operations.

Human-in-the-Loop Operations Management

  • Lead all human feedback, annotation, data labeling, model evaluation, and quality assurance programs.
  • Design and optimize workflows for AI training data generation and model validation.
  • Develop scalable frameworks for reviewer recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management.
  • Ensure operational readiness for new AI initiatives, model launches, and customer programs.
  • Manage global teams supporting annotation, red teaming, content review, and evaluation activities.

Operational Excellence

  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), SLAs, and operational metrics.
  • Implement best practices in workforce planning, capacity management, forecasting, and productivity optimization.
  • Drive process automation and operational efficiencies while maintaining quality standards.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve speed, accuracy, and scalability.

Quality & Compliance

  • Build and maintain robust quality assurance programs.
  • Ensure consistency, accuracy, and reliability of human-generated outputs.
  • Establish governance processes for operational risk management.
  • Ensure compliance with privacy, security, regulatory, and ethical AI standards.
  • Support audit and compliance activities as required.

Workforce Leadership

  • Build, lead, and develop high-performing operational leadership teams.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and operational excellence.
  • Oversee talent acquisition, succession planning, and leadership development.
  • Create programs that improve employee engagement and retention.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Research, and Data Science teams to operationalize AI initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Security, and HR teams to ensure operational alignment.
  • Serve as the operational voice in executive planning and strategic decision-making.
  • Support customer and partner engagements related to AI operations.

Financial Management

  • Develop and manage operational budgets.
  • Monitor operational costs and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
  • Evaluate outsourcing, vendor management, and workforce optimization strategies.
  • Ensure financial accountability and achievement of operational targets.

Technology & Systems

  • Oversee operational tools, platforms, and technology supporting HITL programs.
  • Drive implementation of workflow automation and AI-assisted operational solutions.
  • Partner with technology teams to improve operational visibility through dashboards and analytics.
  • Ensure systems support scalability and business growth.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Master's degree (MBA, MS, or equivalent) preferred.

Experience

  • 12+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations, AI operations, trust & safety, data annotation, business process outsourcing (BPO), or related fields.
  • 7+ years leading large-scale global teams and operational functions.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting AI, machine learning, data labeling, model evaluation, or human feedback programs.
  • Experience scaling operations in high-growth technology environments.
  • Strong track record managing multimillion-dollar budgets and operational organizations.
