Job Description

Vice President, Engineering - Western USA Preferred As Diamond's Vice President of Engineering, you are an established leader of leaders, responsible for defining the mission of the department, inspiring and motivating your team to pursue that mission, and setting strategic goals for them to achieve in that pursuit. You have a balanced understanding of business and technical objectives and your guidance is sought out because your decisions drive the best outcomes for both. You own a set of key performance indicators important to the business, and drive outcomes for the business by setting goals against these metrics. You will help lead the team through various phases of development on any given client project. You will provide technical direction when needed and drive performance by empowering our team members.

You're a hands-on technologist who is interested in being a true business partner with our product team to help drive great products across the finish line. You'll collaborate with various teams including PMO, Product and Design to determine how to deliver the best solutions while balancing priorities. You'll work hand in hand with our leadership team (CTO, CEO) and Engineering team to contribute to Diamond's vision.

Our engineers are pioneering technologies to efficiently build outstanding user experience and products across platforms for multiple brands. We work closely with product, innovative design, and other engineering teams to deliver the best experiences and products. Reporting directly to Diamond's Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and working with Diamond's leadership team, the VP, Engineering will be responsible and accountable for Diamond's growth in revenue and profitability by ensuring projects are delivered on time and on budget.

Responsibilities & Expectations: Architect the technical approach for each project to ensure timely delivery of top quality solutions. Assign resources to efficiently and effectively deliver each project. Develop/evolve a stable of technical tools and reusable components that the Diamond tech team can use to deliver projects more quickly. Evolve and foster adoption of the vision and mission of Diamond's Engineering team across leadership, stakeholders, and the Engineering team itself. Builds and maintains relationships with senior leadership, key Engineering stakeholders, and clients while acting as a trusted advisor. Help recruit and hire top notch technologists and engineers Empower, develop, coach and mentor the other members of the team Work with internal and external management and senior-level contacts to keep abreast of and monitor projects, operational decisions, scheduling requirements, and/or contractual clarifications, to identify opportunities to ensure successful and timely implementation/execution. Support the ongoing development and implementation of best practices within the Engineering department for the purpose of achieving business goals and to support the smooth running of projects undertaken by the team. Make decisions based on the best practices of Computer Science Partner with the Product Team to ensure the best solution and to deliver products successfully Collaborate with other departments as required to build rapport and execute on timelines to meet the strategic goals. Develop and cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders (internal and clients) to drive the planning and execution of vital strategic client project goals Provide strategic and operational expertise to help scale up the business and execute vision/priorities Help Diamond maintain a strong security stance across projects Ensure the highest standards of quality in the execution of our projects Ad-hoc duties may be assigned Qualifications & Requirements: Strong experience in product and technology 10+ years hands-on software engineering; solving and scaling problems horizontally 7+ years leading and building a team at scale Exposure working across multi-disciplinary teams Ability to restructure or reengineer organizational processes for a measurable positive impact on revenue generation Sets benchmarks independent of, and beyond, organizational best practice, based on a clearly defined understanding of what is possible Adopts a long-term perspective about the business Hands-on management approach to deliver and maintain complex systems and products A strong software engineering background combined with strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and networking Familiarity with code design principles, patterns, and standard methodologies Familiarity with AWS technologies is a strong plus Development experience scaling complex systems Passion for architecture and coding Exceptional interpersonal skills Strong communication (synchronous and asynchronous) skills, both written and oral, and the ability to interface with cross-functional teams, as a leader, in a professional and polished manner Exceptional people skills with expertise leading, mentoring, training, and/or hiring a team of hardworking team members Pristine organizational skills - you understand how to organize teams for success Ability to attract and inspire top-notch engineers Strong work ethic and high level of confidentiality using good judgment and an exceptional sense of accountability High energy, strong team player, creative thinker, and strategic influencer. Must have the legal right to work in the United States Experience managing off-shore & on-shore teams
