The Trauma Data Systems Analyst (TDSA) will be responsible for ProMedica Toledo Hospital/Toledo Children's Hospital, ProMedica Flower Hospital, Fremont Memorial, ProMedica Bay Park, and Fostoria Community Hospital trauma registry and meeting the requirements for the State of Ohio under Senate Bill 98. The TDSA, under the supervision of the Trauma Program Director, will provide data on trauma patients to meet the requirements for the State of Ohio Trauma Registry. The TDSA is responsible for abstracting information from patient records, assigning E-Codes, Trauma Scores, Glasgow Coma Scale, Injury Severity Scores, and ICD-10 codes for all patients meeting state trauma registry criteria. This responsibility includes: The Toledo Hospital, Toledo Children's Hospital, Flower Hospital, Bay Park, Fremont Memorial and Fostoria Community Hospital and other hospitals in the ProMedica System as assigned. The TDSA is responsible for the quality of the data for all 443 variables in the State of Ohio Trauma Registry. Enters all data in Trauma Registry; develops and designs quality assurance, research and utilization review reports from the registry. Generate statistical analysis on trauma data for research purposes. Prepares trauma registry reports and clinically related projects for research and publication. Assists the Medical Director of Trauma Services and the Trauma Program Director in the day-to-day departmental activities.
**Position is a remote position following two weeks of onsite training.**
+ Registered Health Information Technology Degree (RHIT) is required.
+ Must have certification as Trauma Registrar by American Trauma Society or equivalent provided by state trauma program. Certification board and obtain within one (1) year of date of hire. Three year's experience in trauma/injury registry coordination preferred. One to two (1-2) years in medical records/information systems preferred.
+ A minimum of two (2) years computer experience in a health care setting required. Demonstrated experience in data base management/analyzing programs. High level of analytical ability required. Must analyze and interpret trauma and QI data. Experience in an American College of Surgeons verified trauma center with in-depth knowledge of ACS guidelines for trauma center standards, coding methodologies for trauma patients and complications preferred
+ In-depth knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology. Specialized training in trauma registry methodology, case abstracting, data entry, trauma scoring, including ISS, GCS, E- Codes and ICD-10 coding is required.
+ Must possess excellent verbal, written and organizational skills. Professional knowledge, administrative ability, strong computer background and expertise to provide support and training on various software applications. Excellent and accurate typing/computer skills. Must be ambitious and able to work independently. Detailed and goal oriented and able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
+ Must be able to move about hospital and between workstations
+ be able to understand directions, communicate and respond to inquiries
+ Must be able to input and retrieve information from computer
