Job Description

Overview:
LRP is seeking a Editor/Reporter (Hybrid Remote position) to develop timely, advice-driven articles for its website and accompanying newsletter, My Federal Education Funds®.

The Editor/Reporter works in an assigned subject area to translate national education department policy, the latest research, and proven innovative solutions and ideas into usable, ready-to-implement best practice content for administrators.

Proven and demonstrated interviewing and reporting experience

Ability to write clearly and concisely

The ability to multitask and maintain high productivity without sacrificing quality

Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently

Responsibilities:
Learn about our readers and the issues that concern them to independently generate story ideas to meet their needs; gain an understanding of Title I regulations and policy changes

Conduct extensive phone interviews with key education experts, decision-makers, researchers, analysts, legislators, and service providers to elicit advice-driven information; develop and maintain a pool of expert sources in the field

Five best practice/guidance stories in addition to regular weekly features, news coverage and special projects

Contribute to a monthly publication plan using feedback from sources and observations of trends/emerging issues

Contribute to a weekly memo discussing trends and informs about education trends or hot issues

Manage workflow and assigned tasks daily in Wrike

Visit successful schools occasionally throughout the year to uncover best practices; attend company conferences as needed

Position Requirements:
4-year college degree

2 years of reporting experience generating story ideas and interviewing expert sources by phone

Ability to work a hybrid remote schedule, which includes 2 days in our PBG, FL office.

Demonstrated knowledge of AP Style

Proven ability to write clearly and concisely and appropriately structure stories

Demonstrated competency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Desired Qualifications:

Familiarity with Title I

Previous experience with a local school system, either in a teaching or an administrative role

Experience reporting on the federal or state legislative or administrative branches; experience reporting on education at the federal, state, or local level
