Your Opportunity

At New Relic, docs are a core component of the product experience. Our words bring life and personality to our products. We're here to help users understand our platform, onboard, and ultimately become power users. Our writing helps our users build better software and love our products even more.

Do you like talking docs as much as you love writing them? You'll join a team of passionate writers looking to do the best work of their careers, united by a curiosity for the finer points of writing and technology. If that sounds as exciting to you as it did to all of us, let's talk!

What You'll Do

* Write, edit, and architect our docs.
* Empathize with our users and build relationships with our people.
* Turn technobabble into language anyone can understand, and set a standard other teams can follow.
* See the value in our products, not just the features, and create docs that show off the value without boring our users.
* Clarify complexity. Bring order out of chaos with a solid understanding of information hierarchies and content strategy.
* Thrive in a fast-paced environment. You take pride in your work and hold everything you do to high standards.

Your Qualifications

Must have:

* 3+ years experience as a technical writer for an agile software company.
* Outstanding technical writing skills. You cut quickly through jargon, write and rewrite until your meaning is crystal-clear, and inject a bit of humanity too.
* An authority at organizing information in an easy-to-understand hierarchy who can transform the most complex ideas into simple ones.
* Project management experience with large writing projects, and an ability to balance multiple areas of focus and make thoughtful trade-offs.
* Experience with software developers, so you know how developers think and communicate (Our products are built by software developers for software developers).
* A strong opinion about the Oxford comma.
* Experience with Git and GitHub.

Nice to have:

* Knowledge of the observability industry or SRE practices, and familiarity with the tools like Kubernetes or AWS used to build modern platforms.
* Practice with static site engines like Gatsby or Hugo.
