IAV is currently seeking two Systems- High Voltage Battery Engineers at our North American Headquarters in Northville, Michigan.

The High Voltage Battery Engineer focuses on Electric Vehicle and ePowertrain system development. HV Battery Systems Enginees will support internal projects and work as a member of a team representing IAV on projects with external customers covering a wide range of applications, e.g. High Voltage Battery Systems / EV & Hybrid Systems as well as System Engineering Principles.

Essential Responsibilities & Activities:

Develop & Coordinate Battery Development Projects with our Internal Resources, German Engineering Teams and US Test Partners. Growing IAVs local expertise, portfolio and customer base related to HV Battery Systems. Understanding and Applying System Engineering Tools and Approaches.

You will develop vehicle level and sub-system component level systems used in the battery electric, Plugin Hybrid and Hybrid Electric Vehicles.

Review system requirements with the customer [internal & external]

Support the definition of subsystem requirements for components, e.g., energy storage, electric motor, power electronics, charging systems

Execute drive cycle based energy analysis using math-based models

Define and analyze powertrain architectures used in PHEV and HEV applications.

Support the design and implementation of algorithms and functions based on requirements

Participate in function and SW code reviews

Create function description documentation

Support validation test plan creation

Execution of software validation test plans

Review test case results

Other general tasks are:

Support planning and execution of engineering activities as directed by supervisor or senior team members.

Support customer meetings

Support business and strategic company development opportunities

Demonstrate a willingness to learn and build technical knowledge and ability

Travel for purposes of test trips, training, or meetings, possibly outside the country for up to several months

All other duties as assigned


Essential Qualifications:

* Bachelors degree in mechanical or electrical engineering with 2+ years relevant experience
* Must be able to work effectively with customers and other program staff and team members
* Must be a self-starter with the ability to complete project goal
* Must be able to prioritize responsibilities and handle multiple duties/projects simultaneously
* Knowledge in High Voltage Battery Systems

* Basic knowledge with the creation and execution of test plans, test scripts, test automation, and the generation of test reports
* Basic knowledge in testing and debugging software using MIL / SIL / HIL and in prototype vehicles
* Basic knowledge of model-based development environment using MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow
* Basic knowledge from taking a design from concept, to requirements, to build, to test, to production implementation
* Ability to understand complex electric and mechanical systems on vehicle level and specifically on battery level
* Ability to understand complex electric and mechanical systems on vehicle level and specifically on battery level
* Experience with 3D CAD Tools such as CATIA, ProEngineer or Siemens NX

Preferred Qualifications:

* Masters degree in mechanical or electrical engineering
* Must have excellent written communication skills
