Please review the job details below. Maxar is currently seeking a Structures Production Engineer to join our team in Palo Alto, CA. Production Engineering is comprised of various roles that contribute to the development, production and test of satellites. These roles provide engineering direction, coordinate production engineering processes, and perform engineering analysis to reduce downtime on the production floor. Additionally, they provide DFx (Design for X, manufacturing, safety, cost, etc.) support by developing process improvements and cost reduction initiatives to effectively perform manufacturing, assembly, integration and test processes, as well as utilize equipment and materials while maintaining high quality standards. In this role, you will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams from multiple subsystems, keeping the tasks fresh and exciting. You may travel to suppliers, launch base and operators' sites. This role will offer you a unique experience and opportunity to better understand the phases of a satellite life as well as customer's end needs. You will have the opportunity to take on and master a specific role before rotating to another role to learn more about other disciplines. The goal is to provide you with experience in development, production as well as test such that you can fully appreciate the impact of each phase prior to settling in a specific area of specialty. Responsibilities Plan and coordinate production engineering processes on daily basis to produce high quality products. Translate engineering intent, drawings and configurations into fully functional hardware. Develop manufacturing work instructions to clearly define structural component integration and test. Define how to prepare hardware for test, integration and flight. Perform engineering drawing review and provide final approval for manufacturing. Product manufacturing shop orders to direct the detailed assembly sequence from subsystem to system level. Define and support repair and rework activities. Design, procure, install and integrate custom manufacturing equipment, tools and tooling. Perform root cause analyses when non-conformances and escapes are identified and deploy corrective actions. Evaluate current manufacturing activities and make recommendations for improvements. Stay current with product specifications, engineering technology and production processes. Develop best practices to improve manufacturing capacity, quality and reliability. Minimum Requirements or permanent resident Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial TechnologyEngineering, Composite Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field, and a minimum of two years of related service experience. InternGroup project experience that demonstrates your abilities in Working in a manufacturing, construction, or machine shop environment Quality control, statistical analysis, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, DFx, and other process improvement and implementation tools Developing models of components and assemblies using CAD (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, ProEngineer (preferred)) Innovation and solving problems, particularly showing how you come up with ideas that are new, better or unique, or illustrating new ways of looking at old problems Managing ambiguity, especially in understanding risk impacts and management Collaborating with team members of different technical disciplines Ability to learn quickly, plan, and adapt Willing to take responsibility and to be held accountable, particularly for the resolution of interdisciplinary, interorganizational issues Integrity and Commitment -- must be able to be trusted and respected by all, be credible, flexible, appreciative and fair Ability to accommodate travel Ability to support off-shift production, integration and test schedules Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial TechnologyEngineering, Composite Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field Experience with design, manufacturing, and test of Spacecraft Systems Experience with AerospaceLaunch vehicles, and Safety Critical Systems Familiarity with advanced composite materials and spacecraft structures Familiarity with data acquisition systems, Matlab, Java, andor HTML Robotics Experience Familiarity with 3D Printing Maxar Technologies values diversity in the workplace and is an equal opportunityaffirmative action employer.
