This position is available immediately.The Designer will interrogate and operationalize how an asset-based approach can be leveraged for English acquisition at scale. The Designer is responsible for providing specific expertise about how best to provide English learners with productive opportunities to simultaneously nurture their English language competence and build their content knowledge base and conceptual understanding. Additional expertise is welcome in such areas as literacy, mathematics, research, culturally relevant pedagogy, and assessment. The position will include providing instructional experience (teacher, coach, administrative) to design teams, as well as advisory expertise to our network of educators and partner organizations. As a team member of Student Achievement Partners, the Designer also contributes towards our commitment to becoming an anti-racist and multicultural organization.Key Responsibilities:Contribute content expertise, specifically in questions of evidence-based best practices of instruction for English learners, to design teams and partners.Lead efforts in strengthening SAPs impact in the field by staying connected to emerging content and research that aligns with SAPs mission-driven work.Co-lead one or more design teams across the organization.Lead the planning and execution of the action research activities in service of the project teams, our organizations and our partners ongoing reflection, learning and accountability for impact.Support the design team to apply the equitable design principles and tools consistently and effectively.Collaborate and strategize with the design team to inform decisions regarding the use of consultants and budgets to expand the project teams capacity to execute projects.Develop and maintain relationships with partner organizations.Travel is not currently required, but as travel guidelines evolve some travel for this role will be required.QualificationsAt least 35 years of experience teaching English learners in a mono-lingual or dual language public education setting, including an understanding of the targeted supports ELs need and deserve to access rigorous content;A minimum of 35 years of experience providing professional learning, coaching, curricular development and/or contributing to program design focused on promoting English learners content (math and/or literacy) and language development;Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience;Commitment to the mission and vision of equitable instruction of Student Achievement Partners;Demonstrated record of strong written and verbal communication; andHigh level of initiative, critical thinking, sound judgment and problem-solving skills, and excellent attention to detail.
