Why Join ThisWay Global

At ThisWay Global, we’re solving complex engineering problems at the convergence of AI and high-performance computing. If you thrive on technical depth, autonomy, and building infrastructure that scales intelligently, you’ll find plenty to love here.

We’re a small, fast-moving team backed by meaningful traction and vision. Every engineer plays a central role in shaping the company’s direction. Whether you’re hands-on in the code, refining architecture, or leading cross-functional execution—you’ll be part of a team that moves fast and thinks long-term.

We work remotely, but we welcome applicants based in high-tech cities who want to stay close to cutting-edge conversations and challenges.

Job Overview

As a Staff Software Engineer, you’ll lead efforts to design, implement, and evolve distributed systems that support critical AI workloads. You’ll collaborate with deeply technical peers, mentor emerging talent, and help guide the roadmap for scalable backend services that are secure, resilient, and high performance.

This role is for an engineer who loves working at the edge of possibility—but with the focus and pragmatism of getting real systems into production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and build distributed software systems in Rust that power AI and HPC platforms.
  • Solve high-complexity problems in system design, performance optimization, and data integrity.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate business goals into technical strategy.
  • Mentor engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and technical feedback.
  • Champion development best practices, system observability, and secure-by-default architecture.
  • Stay current with new technologies and bring forward innovations that improve the stack.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience in systems or backend development.
  • Strong proficiency in Rust (or deep expertise in another systems-level language with the ability to pivot).
  • Experience with parallel computing frameworks (OpenMP, CUDA, MPI, etc.) or distributed compute infrastructure.
  • Track record of shipping scalable, secure production systems.
  • Strong architectural instincts and a bias toward clarity, simplicity, and performance.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. and based in the United States.

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Experience with HPC, HTC, or low-latency infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with ISO-compliant or NIST-informed security practices.
  • Background in startups, research labs, or environments where precision and scale meet.
  • Based in or near a major tech hub (e.g., Boston, Bay Area, Pittsburgh, Austin, Seattle, NYC).

Benefits

  • Fully remote role with occasional travel for team meetups.
  • Competitive compensation with long-term growth potential.
  • Equity participation.
  • Health benefits and 401K plan.
  • Unlimited PTO (with manager approval).
  • High-impact environment where your work directly shapes company success.
