As a ~$250M business segment within the Laboratory Products Division and the Life Sciences Solutions Group, the Liquid Handling Solutions (LHS) business segment within Laboratory Products Essentials Business Unit has a rich and strong history contributing to Thermo Fisher Scientific and enabling our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer. The COVID-19 response presents an unprecedented opportunity for LHS. Characterized for years by low growth rates, LHS now faces exponential growth in demand. If captured successfully, LHS could scale to become a $0.4B+ SBS over the next three years. As a Global Senior Product Manager, you will manage current and future universal tip portfolio throughout the whole lifecycle from planning to execution in support of organizational strategy and objectives, focusing on addressing COVID demand in near term and expanding into long term view over time. Specifically, this position is the key liaison to external partners, project management, operations, R&D, supply chain and quality and regulatory teams with accountability to drive effective product launches, develop innovative, application based tip portfolio and maintain high product quality and service levels to meet and exceed customer expectations.

What will you do?
  • Develop, manage, monitor and execute product line strategies, business plans and product roadmaps
  • Collaborate with external and internal partners to develop application-based solutions
  • Lead new product development through VOC, concept and design phases
  • Lead creation of new product development process deliverables (business case, customer wants, product requirements etc.) and participate phase gate reviews
  • Interact with customers, R&D, commercial to lead development and execution of alpha, beta, and early access testing plans
  • Understand and monitor market environment including strengths, weaknesses, and product competition
  • Support Business Development, Marketing and R&D to develop required marketing and technical literature, including promotional materials, web content, user manuals etc.
  • Work together with Applications, Business Development and Marketing to develop and manage product application material support plan
  • Work together with Business Development and Commercial to develop and implement training programs and materials
  • Monitor product quality, availability, and customer satisfaction and support implementation of corrective actions
  • Manage forecast and support Supply Chain and Operations in managing critical products
  • Analyze, interpret, and report out regularly to management regarding sales forecasts, product supply and competition
  • Lead pricing /margin optimization, management across the customer value continuum for both new product development and existing products
  • Manage product information in ERP and Product Life Cycle management systems

How will you get here?

  • A Master's degree within scientific discipline is required and advanced degree and/or MBA an advantage.

Required Qualifications:
  • Lab experience
  • 5+ years' experience in product management or product development role in marketing led organizations developing and launching new products
  • Experience in similar business role in life science
  • Proven track record of new product development with cross-functional/divisional teams to achieve timely completion of project deliverables
  • Work experience with automated liquid handling instruments and consumables
  • Demonstrated ability of strategic thinking and planning and to motivate stakeholders of multiple functional areas (R&D, Operations, Supply Chain, Marketing, Commercial) through adversity and problem-solving skills
  • Extensive knowledge of MS Office applications is required, particularly PPT, Excel
  • Comfortable with domestic and international travel up to 30% of the time

Desired Qualifications:
  • Proven track record of collaborating with external partners in terms of negotiating and managing supplier agreements, pricing and product requirements
  • Work experience with instrument software (UI) development and project management
  • Experience in working as a part of global multicultural matrix organization
  • High energy levels, proactivity, enthusiasm and drive for result, willingness to grow within organization
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written presentation skills
  • Lab experience highly desired
