Description JOB PURPOSE:The Senior Informatics Specialist works to improve Revenue Cycle efficiency, automation and maximize the current revenue cycle technology toolkit. This role understands the capabilities and general application of Epic functionality, including revenue cycle, supporting clinical functions, and supporting bolt-on applications.Keeping current on Epic capabilities within the revenue cycle, as well as, supporting acquisition and integration activities are functions of this role. The Senior RC Informatics Specialist recommends technology enhancements & optimizations that will positively impact the Revenue Cycle and help Piedmont Healthcare (PHC) operate according to best practice, industry benchmarks and meet A/R performance goals and productivity.The Senior RC Informatics Specialist will work to improve and implement internal controls across the revenue cycle technology footprint and will work closely with IT on interface and system issues as required to improve the flow of data. The Senior RC Informatics Specialist plans, executes and monitors the implementation of technical systems, software, hardware or solutions specific to Revenue Cycle.Evaluates client needs, develops configurations that support business processes. Provides training and end-user support during and after the implementation process. Completes the scoping of projects or developing requirements documentation.MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, Health Information Systems, Informatics, Healthcare Management, or closely related field.** In lieu of degree, six (6) years of relevant work experience will be accepted in addition to the experience requirement.MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:Three (3) years of work experience in revenue cycle, informatics, healthcare technology, or a closely related field is required.** If no degree, a total of nine (9) years of experience required.MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:NoneADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:Epic certification in Clinical or Rev Cycle application preferred.Working knowledge and subject matter expertise in the areas assigned.Project management experience a plus.Requirements KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Conducts reporting & analytics gap analysis for new integrations and system updates.2. Supports system integration activities related to Revenue Cycle systems.3. Analyzes and assesses technology impacts to Revenue Cycle workflows and processes.4. Designs and implements technology-enhanced future-state revenue cycle workflows by interacting with revenue cycle department leaders and teams to analyze needs and translate into functional requirements and design.5. Assesses the business use and functions of Revenue Cycle applications identifying opportunitiesfor optimization as necessary.6. Supports and assists revenue cycle leaders in assigned area(s) in identifying and troubleshootingRevenue Cycle application related problems and provides recommendations for resolution.7. Ability to manage multiple ongoing initiatives and facilitate coordination between many stakeholderssuch as Revenue Cycle Operations, Quality, IS, and Finance.8. Conducts/Coordinates completion of quarterly Epic Upgrade reviews with operations and IT.9. Consults with IT staff to determine business and functional requirements and identify solutions toresolve those needs.10. Supports/Manages the implementation of Revenue Cycle system implementations/integrations asassigned.a. Develops implementation materials.b. Develops master work plans, managing schedules, scope and resources across teams tomeet goals.c. Organizes work and program structure to facilitate decision-making.d. Ensures effective communication and involvement of all key stakeholders, including but not limited to status reporting, issue tracking, and facilitating discussions with relevant parties.11. Gathers business requirements and works with Revenue Cycle Operations to create test plans and test data sets to ensure all components of the system meet specifications.12. Coordinates across inter-connected Revenue Cycle program efforts, representing scope andprogram needs.13. Serves as internal subject matter expert for the various Revenue Cycle system implementations.14. Responsible for implementation outcomes.15. Establishes, monitors, and reports to appropriate partners relevant Revenue Cycle metrics andother programs as assigned.16. Assists Information Systems support groups in resolving complex issues.17. Engages peer organizations through vendor websites or direct contact to understand differentapproaches/resolutions to complex issues.18. Possess qualities consistent with creativity, innovation, collaboration, and critical thinking.19. Work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction.20. Ability to thoroughly analyze all forms of revenuecycle transactions. Ability to research revenue cycle bottlenecks and recommend process improvement action plans.• Communication - Skill and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.Able to communicate complex ideas and information using a variety of media.Very good written, verbal, and presentation skills at peer, customer, and leadership level. Able to model and foster good communication skills for co-workers. Communicates Piedmont and PHC IS related information to staff.• Teamwork and Customer Service - Able to effectively lead large group efforts involving people from multiple teams.
