8116 - Midtown Office - 2220 W. Broad Street, Richmond, Virginia, 23220CarMax, the way your career should be! The Solutions Architect for In-Store Experience is responsible for designs and oversight of applications for the In-Store experience team(s). This involves the uniformity of application implementations under their influence, proper performance of those applications, and the team's developed solutions are within enterprise direction. This position will be responsible for ensuring that software developed meets CarMax architectural and quality expectations and requires knowledge about all applicable business processes.The Solutions Architect works with both the Product Team Lead engineers and Enterprise Architecture team to develop standards and design patterns. This position will work with various Technology teams to champion the adoption of patterns, platforms, and architectural tools. Solution Architects provide mentorship and are asked to provide positive and developmental feedback and capitalize on teachable moments to grow others. This position is responsible for the technical training of associates.Essential ResponsibilitiesDesigns system solutions that meet requirementsProvides proposals for solutions to deliver business outcomesDesigns sweeping applications that impact environments within their teamRecognizes areas of improvement in the development lifecycle and recommends action plansCreates, reviews, and develops software throughout the team's environment and effectively communicates the rationale behind the designsDesigns modifications to existing software, designs reusable components, and eliminates redundancy in designs throughout their team's environmentDrives design consensus within the team while maintaining awareness with other teamsDevelops and delivers technical training and business understanding for developersDrives efficient resolution for system outages as well as performance and functional shortcomingsEngages in critical support situations and effectively, efficiently, and quickly drives to successful resolutionsInvestigates new technologies and techniques and researching ongoing industry developments through a partnership with the Enterprise Architecture teamEvaluates the ROI of systems development and enhancements to the Enterprise environment and effectively weighs the financial alternatives involved with various technical solutions and proposalsPartners with Enterprise Architects to assist Leadership with the forecasting of technology implementation budgetsAssists in the budget process to identify the Total Cost of OwnershipQUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:Broad understanding of the business processes implemented across the team's applicationsBroad understanding of all aspects of the team's technical software requirements including security, scalability, and usabilityDevelop long term application plansBuild consensus and acceptance of improvements and changes to CarMax development patterns, standards, and processesInfluence the technical direction of others in order to drive all projects to successful completion within the architectural standards and guidanceCourageously drive strategic initiatives and challenge upward and across the IT enterprise when necessaryProven ability to effectively communicate architectural standards and best practicesDrive through obstacles and time constraints to successfully deliver a project to completionDemonstrated ability to compare and contrast alternative approaches to meet objectives while assessing risk both quantitatively and qualitativelyEffectively estimate time required for technical efforts for projects of all sizesDemonstrated communication skills to include, but not limited to, verbal and written communication, delivering organized presentations, able to tailor message to the audience, and facilitate group discussions with diplomacy and seek diverse opinionsExcellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills and performs well in high pressure or stressful situationsDemonstrated ability in statistical analysis, advanced calculations, and reportingDemonstrated ability to effectively estimate effort, durations and enterprise impact required for large technical solutionsEvaluate long term impacts when making recommendations and decisions4-year degree required (in IT related course of study)8+ years of development experience, preferred 5+ years of experience implementing solutions within Azure or SalesforceExperience implementing Salesforce.com in a large-scale, enterprise environment using enterprise patterns / separation of concerns, preferredExceptional understanding of Technology systems including system design, API design, databases and programming concepts specifically Azure, .NET, and ReactIntegration experience within the Salesforce space (REST, SOAP, ESB) preferred Remote Work: Work location is flexible if approved by the Company except that position may not be performed remotely from Hawaii or ColoradoSponsorship Note: Candidates must be legally authorized to work for any U.S. employer on a full-time basis.
