About The Role: We're looking for software engineers with proficiency in the React and Node.js ecosystem to join our Austin, Texas-based ShipEngine Apps team. In this role you will be responsible for implementing features that serve as the foundation for a shipping platform used by millions of people worldwide, while serving as a mentor for associate engineers. Primary Objectives: Developing features and user experiences for multiple applications using React.js and associated technologies Building and contributing to reusable components and front-end libraries Translating designs and wireframes into high-quality code Mentoring less experienced engineers to help them reach their potential Review code of other team members to ensure consistent quality What We Are Looking For: Professional experience with React.js - depth of knowledge is more important than length of experience 3+ years of software development experience Experience writing automated tests using tools like Jest and Cypress Proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal, sufficient for success in a hybrid in-office / remote work environment Demonstrated capacity to clearly and concisely communicate about complex technical and architectural problems and propose thorough, iterative solutions Comfortable working in an agile software development environment Effective communication skills: able to collaborate and achieve consensus with peers and provide clear status updates Can be productive and self-motivated in a fast paced, highly collaborative environment High degree of intellectual curiosity and a thirst for knowledge - we're always looking for ways to improve our processes while continuing to produce high quality solutions for our customers What will Make You Stand Out: Located in or near the Austin, Texas area Familiarity with shipping and/or shipping software The Tech: Experience developing applications using TypeScript Experience maintaining Helm charts used for deployment to Kubernetes Experience maintaining CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions Travel Requirements (if applicable): N/A Additional Position Duties: (The following is a list of what all employees, except those with medical accommodation, may be regularly required to do.)
