Works on software problems of challenging and diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Applies software engineering knowledge, and verification methodologies in the analysis and qualification of Fidelis' network security products. Exercises judgment within generally defined software practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Independently handles routine work and gets general instructions on new assignments.
Will have the ability to influence overall software methodology, standards, debugging design and execution within the organization, independently initiating new design concepts and creative approaches. May influence the development process and/or project schedule of the Software Design Engineering organization through assessment and/or inspection of project plans, product specifications or testing approach.
Incumbent is in a position requiring product quality assessment which can have a significant impact on project and product delivery schedules, support services and overall customer satisfaction.
Support software development in Fidelis Sandbox products:
About 80% of the programming for this role is done in Python and Shell scripting, and rest in C/C++.
Ensure compliance with existing software standards and conformance to difficult schedules for all design specification activities, while working on challenging and diverse software problems.
Work on software requirements, interoperability, and compatibility and possible integration with in-house or 3rd party software.
Diagnose and resolve systematic and operational problems. Evaluate and recommend operational improvements and alternatives across different projects in software engineering.
MSCS/BSCS and 3+ years of experience developing software in a Linux/Unix environment.
Prior experience must include entire Software Development Life Cycle; using C/C++ or Java in a Linux/Unix environment; using Python or Perl in a Linux/Unix environment; assessing product quality; developing software methodology, standards, debugging design and execution; independently initiating new software design concepts and creative approaches for software design; and providing practical solutions to software design.
Must possess good organizational skills and ability to work closely with other team members.
Must be professional, attention to detail, self-starter, energetic, good problem solving skills and the ability to prioritize work and juggle multiple tasks.
Expert knowledge of Linux
Python programming and Shell scripting expertise
Experience with C/C++ development.
Experience with SQL Database and Mongo Database, including performance tuning
Experience developing and supporting multithreaded application in a Linux/Unix environment.
Knowledge of TCP/IP networking protocols
Understanding of multi OS internals - Windows, Linux, MacOS.
