Senior User Researcher - Consumer Onchain

Retail Onchain is an organization within Coinbase that focuses on driving more engagement with onchain products and services from with the Coinbase app. In your role, you will help people discover onchain products and services and access them easily and safely. Retail Onchain is responsible for many important features in our product, including Retail Staking and our newly-launched DeFi Borrow product. This role will lead the UX research function for the Retail Onchain team, working in close partnership with the Design, Product, and Data teams to turn user insights into actionable ideas and impact.

What you’ll be doing

• Leading the UX Research function for our Retail Onchain team, from large foundational and generative projects to evaluative, tactical, and investigative quick wins
• Coordinate and conduct mixed-methods research, including interviews, usability testing, concept testing, surveys, and other methods as needed
• Craft research reports to clearly communicate your findings and make impactful design and product recommendations for the team
• Help stakeholders translate research insights (from you and from other researchers) into actionable ideas for experiments and A/B tests, campaigns, notifications, and upsells
• Synthesize qualitative research insights with data and analytics to increase team metrics

What we look for in you 

• 5+ years of user research experience, preferably with some experience in a lead role or primary point of contact for a large product area with many stakeholders
• Experience supporting growth or engagement with mobile products/features
• Strong metrics focus, fluent in quantitative data and experimentation
• Confident team leadership and patient guidance to a range of stakeholder levels, including guiding designers and PMs through their own research
• Easily communicates complex concepts, with ability to influence strategy and decision making
• Can successfully manage project prioritization and multiple stakeholder relationships independently
• Experience with both moderated & unmoderated testing
• Experience, either personally or professionally, with onchain (web3)/DeFi products and services, including:
• Technical understanding of the constraints and limitations of onchain technologies and workflows
• Technical understanding of self-custody wallets, including MPC wallets and Coinbase Smart Contract Wallet
• Ability to explain how onchain products and services work to crypto “newbies”
• Collaborative attitude, team mentality, and humility 
• A learner’s mindset, seeing feedback as a chance to grow
