The Senior Tax Associate will assist with the various tax processes within the corporate tax function relating to federal, state, and international income tax compliance, tax planning areas, and indirect tax compliance and reporting as well as interim and year end periods' income tax provision calculations, process improvement and automation.Key Responsibilities The Senior Tax Associate will have the following key responsibilities in part to help ensure technical competency within the tax department.Income Tax Compliance and Planning: Assist with the preparation and review of all corporate income tax compliance including consolidated U.S. federal income tax return Form 1120; U.S. state and local income/franchise tax returns; U.S. informational reporting for foreign subsidiaries (Forms 5471, 5472, 8858, 8990, 1118); U.S. international tax reform calculation reporting (Forms 8990, 8991, 8992, 8993); E, stock basis, and tax attributes; as well as quarterly federal, state and local estimated payments. Assist with federal, state, and local corporate income tax audit requests and notices. Assist in research of federal, state, and international issues. Prepare and maintain tax return work papers in support of all book to tax differences, tax return positions taken, state apportionment factors, etc. Maintain and utilize the fixed asset system to support tracking of all tax depreciable property. Maintain and utilize the corporate tax filing calendar to ensure all tax filing deadlines are met including extensions, estimated payments and return filing deadlines. Assist with various indirect tax reporting requirements including working with third party firms or external tax advisors as well as addressing notices as needed. Financial Reporting: Support the accurate and timely preparation of EnPro's worldwide income tax provision and maintenance of income tax balance sheet accounts for financial reporting purposes, including the preparation and review of all U.S. domestic book to tax adjustments, state modifications and adjustments and assisting with the review of foreign entities' tax packages. Preparation and maintenance of uncertain tax positions and supporting documentation. Other: Focus on identifying opportunities for process improvements, automation and simplification of the tax compliance and reporting functions. Assist on special projects and tax planning strategies as opportunities become available. Required Qualifications: Bachelor of Science degree in Business, Finance or Accounting 1+ years experience with general tax principles including federal consolidated return regulations, state unitary and combined reporting, and general tax research. 1+ years experience with accounting procedures, concepts, and work paper methodologies. 1+ years experience with U.S. international tax concepts, including GILTI, FDII, foreign tax credits, expense allocation and apportionment, 163(j), E, and BEAT. Tax preparation software experience Preferred Qualifications: CPA and or an advanced degree 1-3 years of experience working with large regional or Big Four accounting firm or with a multi-national corporation. Tax preparation software experience using Corptax tax compliance software Strong project management and organizational skills. Strong ability to drive process improvements.
