**This position can sit anywhere in the US or in Buffalo, NY.**

Overview:

The Sr. Product Owner of Customer and Identity Access Management position is part of a growing Cybersecurity program at M&T Bank. This role will help protect our customers, our brand and our company by developing and advocating a comprehensive IAM strategy that responds to ever-evolving threats.

Key responsibilities will be to own and promote the strategy for CIAM across the lines of business (and channels). Work with various platform teams across those businesses to define and adopt solutions as well as help promote and deliver new features and improvements in line with business and customer needs. Specifically, this individual is responsible for the development of all identity initiatives, such as customer profile, identity access, management and verification, privacy and security.

This role will play a key part in bridging the technical and business worlds by working with colleagues across the business who support our business strategy and the product roadmap and will be the 'go-to' leader for multiple cross-functional teams to deliver the latest identity solutions.

What we are looking for in a Product Owner:

  • The ideal candidate should be a creative leader with extensive IAM experience and a keen focus on user experience all while balancing favorable outcomes

  • Someone who will ensure we deliver a customer-first approach which includes the ability to define and articulate the customer experience and impact for fraud detection and prevention activities

  • The role is both technical and business facing and as such being able to communicate from both a technical and user perspective is essential

  • Experienced in product management, product design or equivalent

  • The individual is an experienced manager who will take an experimental approach to designing and testing new product features

  • Has strong leadership abilities; able to communicate clearly and build strong relationships within and across teams and organizational structures - especially to senior executives

  • Applies a data-driven approach to decision making and works with stakeholders across the business to deliver product developments that furthers the business strategy

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to understand and work within a customer-first environment

  • Proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously

  • Detail oriented with superior organizational skills -- balancing multiple projects, deadlines, and requests

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Be the Senior Product Owner driving M&T's strategic product and technology vision for Customer Identity and Access.

  • Oversee the strategy and roadmap of a comprehensive, cross-channel IAM program that includes process design, requirements definition, technical solutions, operations and user experience.

  • Partner with Cybersecurity, Fraud Prevention, Architecture and Business leads to define the IAM strategy and deploy the associated controls and operations.

  • Lead the IAM Product team to take the company's strategic goals and develop them into an actionable product/operational roadmap

  • Build and own the product/program vision for assigned agile product teams that aligns with the overall strategic intent and communicate them with the teams and their stakeholders.

  • Prioritize a feature backlog, in partnership with other Product Owners.

  • Make autonomous decisions, quickly and thoughtfully, to move delivery forward in alignment with overall product vision and strategy; ensure assigned Product Owners adhere to this.

  • Manage and lead a group of Product Owners all working toward the same strategic intent.

  • Manage and remove blockers and help with prioritization of team backlogs.

  • Manage and lead the analysis of feasibility, cost, or other aspects of planned or potential programs.

  • Work directly with the program Product Owners to create appropriate information radiators and other communication tools for internal team and stakeholder use.

  • Participate in all appropriate team activities and ceremonies.

  • Use a matrixed influencing approach to work with essential business partners throughout the organization often at a senior level and irrespective of hierarchy or divisions, advocating for the benefit of the customer.

  • Understand and engage with customers.

  • Focus on outcomes over outputs, incorporating design thinking methods and analytics to inform product design.

  • Collaborate across teams and with other Product Owners to align the customer journey and dependent backlogs.

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the business environment and needs within the area of responsibility. Understand technical, business and operational impacts of a project or problem.

  • Exercise usual authority of a manager concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management and terminations.

  • Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite. Design, implement, maintain and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.

  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable

  • Complete other related duties as assigned

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 10 years' business, analytical, technical and/or product experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 14 years' higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 10 years' business, analytical, technical and/or product experience

  • Subject matter expertise in Identity Access Management (IAM) principles, processes and technology

  • Proven business expertise with experience in setting clear priorities, understanding business value impacts and independent decision-making

  • Prior experience prioritizing across competing priorities and quickly-changing landscape

  • Prior experience actively seeking out multiple opinions, yet making independent decisions and influencing positive outcomes

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Understanding of Design Thinking principles

  • Knowledge of product design and development best practices

  • Knowledge of Agile and Lean principles and practices

  • Recognized information protection qualifications (e.g. CISSP, CISSP-ISSAP, CISM, GIAC) or one or more platform-specific or Cybersecurity domain-related industry-recognized certification or concentration specialties
