Job Description

Senior Ruby Engineer Fully Remote - Up to £85,000 pa.

Oliver Bernard are working in partnership with a start-up who are the next big thing in the AdTech industry. Their flagship product provides 99.99% accurate real time identification of linear (traditional) TV ads.. It provides powerful and actionable information to broadcasters, agencies, brands and others on exactly which ad played & when. Monitoring every channel in every country means huge amounts of data, millions of records per channel per month. They also have other planned products at similar scale that are designed to fill validated needs inside the AdTech industry. Their future products will leverage AI / ML to offer new and compelling data to the industry.

They do not work with personally identifiable information.

They do not rely on dark patterns, hidden trackers.

Their data is a vast playground for engineers who want to work with interesting ML and AI systems, without infringing on privacy rules.

Required skills:

  • Ruby on Rails
  • Basic web design skills such as HTML, CSS and SCSS
  • Javascript, JQuery or comparable framework
  • TDD or other test driven techniques
  • CI/CD using Circle, Github actions, Jenkins etc
  • Experience of Redis and/or memcache
  • Appreciation for designing and building performant and scalable software. Should be able to describe where and why to use caches, load balancers clustering etc.
  • Good understanding of RDBMS such as Postgres. Should be comfortable writing basic SQL statements and understand what the ORM is doing 'in the background'
  • Experience working in a collaborative environment, with the ability to take part in, and receive and act on, constructive feedback in PR's, pairing, planning and retro sessions
  • The ability to take ownership for a task, with the confidence to ask for clarity or help if needed. We are also looking for self organisational skills. with a proven ability to deliver tasks to spec and within the allocated time budget

Remote work

The company are a fully remote company. Their team is spread through the UK and abroad. They meet up occasionally for meetings and socials, but your day to day will be from home (regardless of lockdown). Provided you are a UK citizen or would otherwise be entitled to work in the UK post-brexit they are also happy for you to work overseas if you would like to. The only restriction on this is that the time difference with the UK must be 3 hours or less.
