THE CHALLENGE

At Eventbrite, we’re evolving our design system to be more expressive, cohesive, and accessible across platforms. Motion plays a key role in shaping how users experience our product—providing clarity, delight, and a seamless sense of flow. As a design systems motion designer, you’ll define and implement motion principles that scale, ensuring animations enhance usability while maintaining performance and accessibility.

THE TEAM

You’ll be part of the design systems team, a group of designers and engineers dedicated to building and maintaining Eventbrite’s design language. We collaborate closely with product teams, UX researchers, and accessibility experts to craft a system that enables consistent, high-quality experiences across web and mobile. You’ll work alongside designers and engineers to establish motion guidelines, create reusable animation patterns, and contribute to the evolution of Eventbrite’s design system.

THE ROLE

As a design systems motion designer, you will define, prototype, and document scalable motion principles, ensuring they integrate seamlessly into our system and align with our brand.

YOU WILL:

  • Develop and maintain motion principles and guidelines that enhance usability, accessibility, and brand expression.
  • Create scalable animation patterns for UI transitions, microinteractions, and feedback states.
  • Prototype motion concepts using tools like After Effects, Origami, Principle, Lottie, Rive, or Framer to demonstrate intent and feasibility.
  • Partner with designers, engineers, and product teams to implement animations across web and mobile platforms (React, React Native, SwiftUI, Jetpack Compose).
  • Define best practices for performance-efficient animations that ensure smooth experiences across devices.
  • Advocate for accessible motion, ensuring animations support users with vestibular sensitivities and have fallbacks for reduced motion preferences.
  • Document motion principles in the design system, making them easy for teams to adopt and implement.
  • Contribute to design system components by collaborating with engineers to ship reusable motion assets and patterns.

THE SKILL SET

  • Strong motion design expertise, with experience crafting UI animations for digital products using both easing curves and springs.
  • Proficiency in animation tools like After Effects, Origami, Principle, Lottie, Rive, or Framer.
  • Experience working with design systems, contributing to scalable motion patterns.
  • Experience working with React, React Native, SwiftUI, or Jetpack Compose to implement motion directly in code.
  • Understanding of web and mobile performance considerations for animations.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards related to motion (e.g., prefers-reduced-motion).
  • Ability to prototype and iterate quickly, testing and refining motion concepts.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to document and evangelize motion guidelines.

BONUS POINTS

  • Familiarity with Origami and building patches for motion prototyping.
  • Experience with 3D compositing and animation tools, Cinema 4D, Blender, Maya etc.

Background in brand animation or storytelling, bringing motion to life beyond UI elements.
